BET’s “Top 25 Dancers of All Time”

BET aired their list of the “Top 25 Dancers of All Time” tonight. We disagree with the order of the list. How did Chris Brown beat Usher AND Janet? Probably because he hosted the show. And why was Missy even on the list? Mya should have been in her spot. And with all due respect to the late James Brown, Michael Jackson is and will always be the greatest dancer of all time.     why was beyonce, diddy and missy on the list. There is no reasonable explanation to why they are being acknowledged as the greatest dancers of all time.

    And chris brown #4, above janet and usher. that has to be a joke right. chris brown should have taken ciara’s place on that list.

Come on now he’s talented but what in the world. some of these don’t need to be on here or bumped down and there are some great artist not listed on here. Like Mya, and what about Kiely williams for 3LW she dances all the time. that’s all I can think of right now

    I’m appauled at this list. How in the FUCK did Diddy get on this? Missy, Beyonce, & others get on there? Omarion should have taken CB’s spot! I respect Missy, Beyonce, and many others but its legends on that list that should have been placed higher. I disagree with this whole thing! And Ciara at #25? C’mon now??? And miss Aaliyah, wow she should have been in the top ten. I’m gonna go take a nap. Oh, I agree Rap-Up Mya should have been placed on that list.

    Wow, I am really dissopointed in this list. I guess things happen though. I think Mya should have been somewhere. What a lot of people do not know is that, Mya was dancing before she was singing she has done Theatre and other genres before she sang.

    As far as Diddy & Missy, I think that they just put on a show. They have great dancers to back them up but they themselves can not dance by themselves. As for Beyonce` she can move but she has yet to claim a spot.

    This list was done by people who do not watch TV and do not have a respect for the art of dancing. Why wasnt Fatima on the list. What happened to Genuwine? Mya could of been on the list as well. Why would you put Ciara as 25 and after Rosie Parez. Come on people.

    I agree with ^Twa. Chris Brown is an imitator of trendy steps like you and me. Omarion and Ciara are pure freestylers and could do it on pop, hiphop, rnb, dance, whatever, they are the best dancers of this generation and Usher is close third because he does NOT freestyle.

    When I tuned in and saw that Ciara was number 25, I knew this list was going to be busted, jaded and not comprehensive. Ciara is a better dancer than Beyonce, J Lo, Missy, Diddy and Bobby Brown.

    Chris Brown is a great dancer but not better than the likes of Janet. Michael probably shoud have been number one, but the fact James Brown is posthumous helps explain that.

    In essence, this list was so arbitrary that she should not have ranked the artists they chose and just done it alphabetically.

    OK, I thought more on this and I would do the following:

    Missy and Diddy need to be removed from the list.

    Paula Abdul and Mya should be added.

    Chris Brown has got to be below Usher, Janet Jackson.

    J. Lo can place but not as high as she was.

    If we are including Big Daddy Kane, then I would like to see my girl PATRA as she helped put dancehall on BET’s map.

    Ciara has got to be placed higher- especially above Beyonce. Ciara can do choreography, freestyle and street dances- the girl has got versatility. Beyonce can shake her booty and do a body roll, but that is not comprehensive. “Promise” and “Like a Boy” are easily two of the hottest/sultriest dance videos of the past five years. Plus, remember how good her street stuff like Goodies, 1, 2 step was also.

    I heard someone mention Alvin Alley- I guess he was left off as he was more of a theatre dancer. That is my guess, but, yes, he is phenomenal.

    I am back with another comment. When I saw this show advertised I knew I had to watch, I was curious to see where the likes of Ciara, Beyonce, Janet, MJ would fall.

    I really wanted to know about Ciara as I think she is one artists who is pushing videos/dance further in the contemporary. No one is really doing what she does.

    For Beyonce to place as 9, is a travesty. Check out their recent videos- “Promise” and “Like a Boy” are favorites and people love to watch them. Ciara really brought it in both of them. Beyonce just re-released B’day and a slew of videos last week- they are average at best. Nowhere near the level of skill and sophistication as Ciara’s stuff from The Evolution.

    Why this list is so ridiculous I do not know. Some of it is accurate, but the overwhelming majority of the list is just too wrong and BET should be ashamed. This is another nail in BET’s coffin as a trusted source for black entertainment and popular culture.

    I am not knocking beyonce; I think she is excellent in her craft, which is being an entertainer, but she is NOT a GREAT DANCER.

    I also have to ask was tina turner, prince, james brown…..Were they really GREAT dancers??? GEAT???

    When you think of GREAT dancers you think of Michael and janet jackson, then the currents such as ciara and usher, and omarion, ect.

    I mean BET really has it twisted. This list is a slap in the face to the REAL dancers who take their craft seriously.

    I agree with a big part of the list. With the exception of Diddy, Missy, Bobby Brown, Shakira, i don’t agree that they are true dancers, they are more video performers than than talented dancers. Missy puts her face on other peoples bodies to make herself look good. As matter of fact that little girl in her video should of been on the list instead of missy. People like Beyonce, Tina Turner, J.LO those dancers should be in the back 25. There are good dancers, good performers. Not top dancers. They are good but not that good. Chris Brown i believe that he has a gift but not a top 5 gift maybe a top 10 after MC Hammer.

    Peolpe who have problems with dancers like Rosie Perez and MC Hammer should do their research in this department before talking junk. MC Hammer took dancing to a whole new level and would start his concert like James Brown starting his dancing from the beginning of the show to the end of the show. And Rosie Perez was a huge performer in the late 80′s and early 90′s so give them their just do’s.
