Amerie performed “Take Control” overseas on the “The Paul O’Grady Show,” a British comedy chat show. We believe this is the first time she has performed the song live.

    I loved it!! Can’t wait til her album drops. Her music is a bit different from the humdrum we hear on a daily basis. Plus, she always performs well & her style is always on point. Get ‘em girl!

    I think that Amerie is Amerie and that shes a good singer and that her & beyonce are two different people. how come any time some one sees a singer dancing in heels and a dress, people think their being beyonce? if thats the case you might as well call beyonce tina turner, cause thats where she gets her act from. I like amerie and can’t wait for her album. I also like beyonce as well.

    WOW! That performance blew me away! With all that dancing, her vocals still sounded on point. There really aren’t many singers who sound great live when they are dancing too much (except Mya IMO). I am really feeling Amerie’s style of music and I admire that she is trying to go in a different direction that most female R&B singers out today. I NEED THIS NEW ALBUM!!! Hopefully it drops in the summer like it is scheduled to do…

    ^^ Beyonce worked with Amerie’s producer and even used the same singing style in GREEN LIGHT as Amerie’s 1 Thing. And I don’t see Amerie sporting blonde hair and grinding on Jay-Z. If one artist is bootleg it’s gotta be Beyonce being bootleg Tina Turner.

    good performance but next time when you break it down be sure to keep the mic at the mouth so the lip singing isn’t so noticable

    What the big issue about lip singing, I mean if I did as many shows as them I would save my voice too, and sing live most of the time and in the studio, we all know she can sing. And so can other artist that chose to lip sing it’s not because they can’t sing it’s so the will not damage their vocal cords and ruin their voice. If you get paid to sing and singing is your job, why would you fuck up your voice and career, they all deserve a break sometimes. DAMN!

    love amerie and the performance. Bump the haters. Why can’t people be fans of an artist and not hate on another. People these days. But I totally agree with Strawberri and she did take the mic away from her mouth but as we all should know an artist doesn’t have to sing every part live. All some of them do is sing the verse and have the chorus playing with the music. But lip singing or not I think you can’t expect someone to both sing and dance on point. If they focus on the dancing then people don’t like the singing, and if they focus on the singing people say it was boring. people just expect to much.

    umm… listen to the studio version of this song. this is DEFINITELY not a lipsync. its very obvious when the vocal track doubles with amerie and it was always at the opening of the chorus.

    this is one of ameries tightest live performances. she was on point and she is nothing like beyonce. they were both obviously inspired stylistically and choreographically by tina turner but vocally theyre miles apart. beyonce has better range, but amerie does more with what she has, and shes a better songwriter. if you like one, it doesnt mean the other sucks.

    amerie is dope, one of the most original in the game and i cant wait for this new album.

    wow im quite impressed i thought Id never hear her sing live. Shes no Christina Aguilera or Whitney but she can carry a tune.
