MTV’s ‘Hottest MCs In The Game’ MTV2 aired their “Hottest MCs In The Game” special this weekend. Below is the list of the top 10 MCs right now as chosen by the MTV News panel. This is not a greatest of all time list. When picking the list, MTV looked at the most prominent MCs of the past year or so and factored in the following: straight-up skills, success (both musical and entrepreneurial), impact on the game, an MC’s cool factor, and how they carry themselves on and off recordings. These are the results: 10. Jim Jones This list is sure to cause debate like when BET did their “Top 25 Dancers of All Time,” which was completely wack. Our thoughts below.
Where is Eminem? He should easily be in the top 3 unless they don’t consider him to be current since he hasn’t put out an album in a while. But then again, neither has André 3000. How is Jim Jones even on the list? Why is Jay-Z only #7? Ludacris is noticeably absent. Wonder how 50 feels about The Game beating him and how Luda feels about the “King of the South” T.I. coming in at #2. And what about Nas? the list is nicely balanced in my opinion, my different approach would be take 50 off the list in replace for buck, have jay and kanye trade places, place common somewhere in the top 5, and replace jim jones with Ludacris who shoulda been on the list in the first fuckin place.

Nelly should be on the list, although he hasnt dropped in three years, because he never fits in with th rest of the crowd and has managed to do some insane numbers for 7 years consistantly, whereas all these other rappers arent doin more than platinum.

I watched this crap, and they gave some bullshit ass reason to why Ludacris wasn’t on the list. I can’t even remember what it was. This list is ok in alot of spots, but it is basically bullshit for putting jim jones in the top 10.
