Review Roundup: Mariah Carey – ‘E=MC²’![]() Mariah Carey’s eleventh studio album E=MC² arrives in stores Tuesday. Here’s what the critics are saying… Entertainment Weekly: Other dance-floor anthems include ”I’ll Be Lovin’ U Long Time” and ”O.O.C.,” which, for all of their pop polish, never lose their soulful spirit. Were it not for ["Bye Bye" and "I Wish You Well"], she could’ve gotten away with calling this album Treasure. A- Los Angeles Times: Amid the drama of her comeback and the hoopla over her record-breaking chart numbers, it’s easy to forget that Mimi wasn’t exactly a great album. E=MC² is a little better—the songwriting is more consistent, the feel a bit more natural—but it too lacks a ruling temperament or artistic vision. 2 out of 5 The New York Times: Much of the record sounds like urban-radio imitations, without the peculiarities and effective hooks of Mimi. Maybe emancipation isn’t a continuing procedure; maybe it only comes once. People: This is a satisfying follow-up [to Mimi], heavy on hip-hop-flavored midtempo jams (like the irressistible No. 1 hit “Touch My Body”) and beat-driven ballads (best is the pretty, piano-laced “I Stay In Love”). 3 out of 4 TweetResponses are currently closed, but you can trackback from your own site. 8 Comments

the LA Times need to fuckin smacked!!!!!!!!!! I can’t believe that….The Emancipation of Mimi was classic. I haven’t fully listen to “E=MC²” but it’s probably hot going off “Migrate” “Touch My Body” and “4Real4Real”. Thumbs down on LA Times.

I’ve heard E=MC2 in its entirety and these reviews are bullcrap. Although some of the tracks sound slightly similar (it’s difficult to tell the difference between “Last Kiss”, “Love Story” and “Thanx 4 Nothin’”) there are many incredible stand-outs such as “Migrate”, “For The Record”, “Side Effects” and “I’m That Chick”.
It doesn’t disappoint! Trust me!

Got the album today here in the UK and it’s just as amazing as emancipation was, if not better. Has everything, R&b tunes to dance to and her classic ballads, a great album! Well worth a listen!

I’d have to say that I’ve heard this album to it’s entirety and it’s nothing compared to Mimi. All the hoopla about it’s going to be the hottest album for 2008…so not true. Don’t get me wrong tho, she’s got some tight tracks but not tight enough to be classified as the hottest album for 2008. Hell, Janet’s cd was better than this album.
