Who is Natalie 'The Floacist' Stewart?
Natalie “The Floacist” Stewart, one-half of the now disbanded neo-soul group Floetry, has spread her wings and is venturing out on her own.
Stewart’s debut solo album FREEDOM…xx is scheduled for a spring 2009 release via her own independent label, Spirit Mother Music. It will be preceded by THE OFFERING…xx, which combines the conceptual and poetic delivery of Floetry with the infectious energy of Floetry’s stage show. The albums are packed with explosive, mind-opening soul, R&B, and new age music, flavored by The Floacist’s personal musical background and rooted with her defining British/Jamaican vocals. Listen to a couple offerings below.
“Do It Right”
“Work It Baby”
“I realized during the final stages of Floetry that I hadn’t developed a voice to air my own fears, simply because I have never believed in fear articulation, as I am not afraid. So I had to find a new language, to be able to articulate the experiences that I was having—a language that recognizes the reality of change without seeking an avenue of victimization. And I used that new language to create this album,” says Stewart.
Catch Natalie “The Floacist” Stewart when she comes to the House of Blues in Anaheim, CA on August 30th. Tickets are on sale now.
