Exclusive: Ne-Yo Working on Semi-Autobiographical Movie

Riding high on the success of his third album Year of the Gentleman, which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, Ne-Yo is about to expand his foray into Hollywood with a semi-autobiographical film that he likens to Eminem’s 8 Mile. Ne-Yo breaks the news exclusively to Rap-Up.com’s Jessica Washington.

“We are putting together the next [film] right now as we speak, as a matter of fact. The name of the movie is Venice Beach and basically it’s going to be my 8 Mile, loosely based on [my] life, but not really,” says the 28-year-old singer/songwriter.

Ne-Yo is aiming for perfection with his first feature film since 2007’s Stomp the Yard. “There’s a lot of room for it to be either really good or really corny. We gotta make sure the script is right, so that’s why we ain’t start shooting yet. We gotta get it right.”

Production on Venice Beach is expected to commence “around December.”

I\’m not trying to be rude but i don\’t feel Ne-Yo has had enough success yet to have an autobiographical film about him even if it is loosely based on his life. I also don\’t think there is much intersted on how he came to where he is.

@catie, y don\’t u hush up if u don\’t have anything to say, if he wants to make a movie abt himself, let him, what is wrong with u pple anyway, gosh, i am lost for words on how we put ourselves down, as far as i am concerned, i am interested in his childhood and how he came abt his success cuz he is successful, all his albums are awesome, how much success does he need to be able to make a movie abt himself, if u think otherwise, then don\’t watch it once it comes out.

Thank you sweetpea. You are the only person to comment with something intelligent to say and I totally agree with you. It would be very interesting to see how Ne-Yo grew up and came upon his success.
