“Nobody really wants to recognize that Beyoncé is a f***ing living legend and that she is just as great, if not greater, than the artists that we had in the past…that she’s probably greater than Tina Turner.”
–Kanye West praises Beyoncé at a New Zealand press conference. The shit is gonna hit the fan.

I don’t agree with Kanye!
She a living faker!
December 1st, 2008 at 10:20 am
Even Beyonce knows she is not currently greater than Tina Turner, her idol. And for Kanye to knock someone who is an epitomal trailblazer for female artists–especially black ones–is proof positive that he is arrogant and ignorant of the past.
December 1st, 2008 at 10:34 am
HATERS!!! IDK ABOUT BETTER THAN TINA TURNER THAT ARGUABLE BUT SHE DEFINITELY IS A LEGEND. BEYONCE IS NOT FAKE, JUST REALLY SHY =P
December 1st, 2008 at 10:39 am
Jerome, I don\\\’t think race has anything to do with WHO Kanye is knocking or disrespecting. A legend is a legend, regardless of color. Tina is a legend and the queen of rock and roll. But to say that it\\\’s especially bad for him to be dissing her because she is black, is a wrong assumption and would set us back about 24 years. That being said, i don\\\’t know why he said that. Beyonce is killer and amazing, but her time to be a legend will come; soon if she keeps doing what she\\\’s doing. she\\\’s unstoppable, but she\\\’s no tina right now. haha Kayne is bold. props to him for being crazy, i guess.:)
December 1st, 2008 at 10:41 am
BP86, I agree with you that it is not “all” about race that’s why I said she was a trailblazer for female artists and then clarified it by saying especially black artists. BTW, how come you didn’t object to me singling out female artists over male artists? Back in the 1960’s and 1970’s it was hard to get financial backers for black singing groups, let alone single recently divorced black women. You either had to be superman/superwoman or it was extremely hard to find financial backing–that’s why people like Aretha Franklin and Tina Turner helped open doors of opportunity in an industry that was theretofore weary of supporting black artists. Even to this day, it is widely acknowledged that white artists are disproportionately better financed than minority artists.
December 1st, 2008 at 10:50 am
I can agree with you on white artists being better financed than minority artists. With a few exceptions. Rihanna, whitney, beyonce, mariah, kanye and alicia to name a few….But I think that those exceptions are more financed than other artists of color because of their universal appeal. They transcend color with their mix of r n b, pop, and dance. The money is in pop music. That type of music spans continents. That being said, it doesn\’t make it right for some artists to be financed better than others depending on their color. But it\’s all about the money. I\’m confident, though, that it is changing. So much progress has been made so far. I\’m excited to see what the future holds for all artists, regardless of color.

I feel him. Just becuase poeple dont like the idea that Beyonce is a household name, she is a legend, weather anyone likes it or not. She has done alot for music and sets that bar very high. Think, if an artist wants be be great, she has to pass the Beyonce test. I say that because every female artists that comes out is compared to Beyonce. People dont compare Aliica Keyes to Rihanna or Jennifer Hudson to A Keyes. they compare everyone to Beyonce, because she sets the pace. Funny
December 1st, 2008 at 11:08 am
What the hell is Kanye thinking?! I’m sorry Bey is def a performer, but her last two albums are nothing stellar and she stay jacking ideas or what people have done already and trying to call that original, get the F*ck outta here with that! She is a hardworking artist on her way to a legend, but to put her better than Tina, that is some BS! Alicia Keys is more of the real deal than Bey imo.
December 1st, 2008 at 11:41 am
tina;s in a different league. she influenced a genre and her records made history.
beyonce has a long way to go.
December 1st, 2008 at 12:07 pm
blah kanye…and you’re greater than jesus…we know…
December 1st, 2008 at 12:26 pm
Haha Kanye is saying that because he knows who got him to the top Jigga.
December 1st, 2008 at 12:30 pm
what’s wrong with someone having an opinion??? Its ridiculous when artists of today cannot be better than artists in the past…. I think BEYONCE is going to be better than Tina Turner & will be with the rate she’s going gong to be a legend! Don’t really like Tina Turner anyways… GO BEE for once I agree with what kanyes saying
December 1st, 2008 at 12:40 pm
He\’s Right. What he is basically trying to say is nobody is recognised as a legend until there career is over. When Beyonce is about 60 people will look back at her as a legend.
December 1st, 2008 at 12:44 pm
The only living legend is alicia keys!Beynce has a loooooooooooooong way 2 go befroe she is a legend
December 1st, 2008 at 12:45 pm
Tina Turner Aretha Franklin, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Micheal Jackson,And Many Others Are Now Considered Legends. However In Their Prime People Would Have Never Called Them That. RUN DMC And LL Cool Jay Were Laughed At When They First Arrived On The Music Scene. Most People Thought They Were One Hit Wonders. Yet With Time They Molded The Industry.
I Agree With Kayne. She Is Not A Legend But At The Rate She Is Going She Will Be One. She Has International Sale Power, She Can Sell Concerts, And She Can Sell Albums. Hate Her Or Like Her She Will Be The Tina Of Our Days If She Continues On The Path

Beyonce’ is one of the greatest entertiners of our time! I love Beyonce’s hustle. Tina is a Legend as well and Tina is a great performer. I think the reson Bey is compared to so many Divas and entertainers from back in the day is because Beyonce can sing her tail off and then she can shake it and move with the best of them. She’s a full on Entertainer. Let’s face it Beyonce is not great at everything but the things she has done she has done well. She is a woman. She is a great business woman and I think how Beyonce was raised has a lot to do with her success. I think Bey is a good woman for young girls to look up to. Before Bey and Jay were husband and wife you did not see her hanging all over him or kissing all over him. She keeps her business to herself and she makes her money!
Bey makes the other ladies in the game step up there game. Love or hate Bey you can’t Knock her hustle or her Talent.

Beyonce is better, I agree with Kanye on this one. Hell Tina wasn’t doing nothing out of love initally, she was performing because her crazy ass husband at the time was forcing, beating her to perform.
Tina, wasn’t producing, acting, arranging harmonies, nor did she start up a girl group to success.
I love Kanye. He speaks truth.
December 1st, 2008 at 12:56 pm
Grace, since when did Beyonce start up Destiny’s Child? The only reason she was the star of the group was because of her father. If her father didn’t favor Beyonce in DC then things might be alot different today.
Beyonce is an incredible performer but a living legend? Not even close.
December 1st, 2008 at 2:17 pm
ok…ok wat the fuck is y\\\\\\\’all talkin bout
all the buul tat kanye is stupid and arrogant again…..here we go …….he say something good you take offense, say some bad you take offense…. is Beyounce not one of the greatest alive right now…she turned herself from a group member to a household name in one album… people watch and think bout wat you say bfore you write it on these blogs and hide behind you computers
December 1st, 2008 at 3:47 pm
As much as I cant stand kanye I have to agree…BEYONCE is a living legend and one of the great entertainers of all time..people just dont agree because they r too busy hating on her…TINA TURNER IS NOT EVEN ALL THAT GREAT..SHE HASNT EVEN HAD AS MANY #1 SONGS AS BEYONCE…GET REAL
December 1st, 2008 at 4:08 pm
Beyonce is the only living legend out of the current group of stars that we\’ve. The woman has got talent like no other, and she\’s willing to take risks that other artists of her generation don\’t. I don\’t agree with him saying that Beyonce is greater than Tina because I don\’t think it\’s appropriate to compare somebody so young with someone that has been in the game for decades. I don\’t think that Beyonce would like that comment, either. We all know how she loves Tina, and Beyonce is really respectful of the pioneers that came before her. But Kanye is speaking the truth about Beyonce being one of the greats already, so I do give him props for that.
December 1st, 2008 at 4:18 pm
I get so tired of some people saying Alicia Keys is the only living legend we\’ve. The girl isn\’t that good of a singer and needs much studio help. Her piano playing is just above average. Did anybody hear that live MTV album she put out or just watch many of her live performances. You can tell that she doesn\’t have that good of voice or a 9-year old could do what she does on piano. Her lyrics are what we\’ve heard a thousand times from better artists. She so stuck in the past with her music, and she won\’t try anything new. And why at the AMAs did she let Queen Latifah and Kathleen Battle do most of the song? Because she knows that she\’s not that exciting of a performer alone and couldn\’t sing as good as neither one of them. I heard her she\’s very conceited. But some of you all so fooled just because she sits behind a piano and plays 70s music.

Stephanie is bitter…..LMAO
Beyonce isn’t a damn legend. She a thief just like Kanye.
December 1st, 2008 at 8:03 pm
Well, he was right, nobody really wants to recognize !!!!!! But that\\\’s true! She\\\’s a living legend and ya\\\’ll just jealous because you prefer other artist. Bee is the queen… of all times.
December 1st, 2008 at 9:29 pm
Kanye West is a talentless douche! Beyonce better than Tina Turner? WHATEVER!!! Tina Turner is a legend and without artists like her and Aretha Franklin, Beyonce wouldnt be where she is. I like Beyonce but Kanye needs to get a grip. I\\\’m so glad I dont own any of his CD\\\’s. EGO MANIAC DOUCHEBAG!!!!
December 1st, 2008 at 9:29 pm
I agree!!!! Beyonce is a living Legend…. People don\’t want to give her the respect that she deserves….
Beyonce is greatest entertainer of our time and should start being respected for it…. Queen Bee forever!
December 1st, 2008 at 9:49 pm
I agree that B is a living legend, and one of the only living legends of today I could think of. Although I do love me some Tina Turner, but dont get me wrong B is the shit now Real Talk
December 1st, 2008 at 10:37 pm
Okay…I like Beyonce and Tina Turner. But there is a difference between being a superstar and a legend. You can be a legend and not be a superstar “anymore”. Like Ike Turner, for instance–no one would claim that he was a superstar when he died, but many people considered him a legend. On the other hand, you can be a superstar and not be a legend “yet.” Because the fact is is that they are mutually exclusive. A legend implies time and longevity…someone who’s been around for decades. It’s laughable to call anyone under 30, even 40 years old a legend. Is Brittney Spears a legend? Is Justin Timberlake a legend? No. They aren’t. Having said that Beyonce is an undeniable superstar who will almost certainly be considered a legend! But therein lies another danger with throwing around the term legend…who knows what the future holds for Beyonce. Using Tina as a model, the 27 year old Beyonce has 40+ more years ahead of herself in the business to increase her already superstar status. And that’s why you can’t call someone this young a legend–we can not predict the future.
Verdict: Beyonce, a superstar? Yes. A legend? Not yet.

BETONCE SUCKS ABOUT A LONG TIME SHE S NOT ABLE TO BE A LEGEND LIKE TINA TURNER BE SENSIBLE
December 2nd, 2008 at 4:04 am
i dont think you can say she\’s a legend
maybe she will be in a few decades…but not now…she\’s been here for, i dont know, 10 years?
yeah…she\’s successfull and great, but i think it depends on more to make you a living legend.
on the other hand, i think she is too perfect to be a legend…she has nothing to look up to, except her talent…no diffictulties in her life, she had to go through.
i have respect for her, but give her 20 years, so that she can become a legend.
and kanye…please shut the fuck up, you#re not as great as you think you are…so dislikable…
December 2nd, 2008 at 10:32 pm
dumb, dumb, dumb.
the opinions of today\’s current artists dont count for jack… they live in and depend on the moment. they are pop artists by definition.
selling more music than another current artist trying to sell music at the same time.. doesnt make you a legend… it means you are the better flavor of the month… Beyonce is in a position where she will be easily forgotten once she stops working for a bit.
honestly, at the moment, its more likely that in a few decades we will see Both kayne and beyonce together in a time-life commercial hawking cheap music collections of the good ole days when they were popular… than thinking of her as a \

Kayne West must not really know music. I mean come on, no rapper really writes the music anymore just the lyrics. It\’s not called stealing beats anymore, lets buy the beat from the orginal artist and rewrite the words that were orginally for that song. As for Beyonce, she is not a really good singer; she a good entertainer and her body sells.
All rappers recycle music, or take left of from the fridge and makes something else with it. There is a hundred ways to make chicken but do left-overs really taste good the second time around?
What makes somethign great is when it acan stand the test of time without alternating it in any fashion, shape, or form.
Alot of the remakes I call milli villi songs because they do display the artistes real talent.
If u want to call someone a legend Prince that brother it like one of the seven wonders of the world and lets not forget Mary J Blige the queen of R&B.
Beyonce can not touch Mary because she does sing \
