Who is Melanie Fiona?
We’re starting out the New Year by introducing you to a new artist to watch for in 2009. Steve Rifkind, the industry veteran who brought you the Wu-Tang Clan and Akon, brings us his newest protégé Melanie Fiona.
The R&B singer/songwriter, who is of Guyanese descent, counts Sam Cooke, Nat King Cole, and Gladys Knight among her inspirations, and already has a fan in Kanye West after opening for the European leg of his Glow in the Dark tour.
The Toronto native’s debut album The Bridge is due out this May on SRC Records/Universal Motown, while her first single “Give It To Me Right” samples The Zombies’ “Time of the Season.” Listen below.

I saw her in Paris during Kanye concert, she rocked that shit, minus : she was dressed like a Pussycat Doll and I didn\’t see the point wit the song, anyway great song looking for the album

Wow that song is HOT. I just saw her briefly in Rap-Up\’s latest issue. After reading that article on her manager Steven Rifkind, I think she has a good team behind her. Good feature Rap-Up!

Ohk this is what i think. The girl can sing her ass off and she got a nice voice and all, plus she got good people round her BUT … her soulful type way of singing kinda ressembles Jazmine Salluvan even that song kinda reminds of the \’Bust your windows\’. But that\’s just my opinion lol it doesn\’t really count =) never know tho. She could make it big, it\’s a new year and people are open for hearing this type of music keep it up!!!!!!!
