Video: Mariah Carey - ‘Hero 2009′

Mariah Carey has rerecorded her classic hit “Hero” for a new compilation called The Ballads, available in the U.S. on January 20 through her former Sony Music label.

The album will feature 18 of Mariah’s best-known songs including “One Sweet Day,” “Vision of Love,” “Always Be My Baby,” and “Dreamlover.” Watch the accompanying “Hero” video below.

    She got the voice, but she lost that “something” I don’t know how to say it, but she’s like a robot, there is no emotion, sad because I loooove her

    Real good video to go along with a great song! MC always been one of my favorite singers & still is till this day definitely can\’t wait for that ballads album to drop! Should be real good since most if not all of her greatest songs she has done have been ballads!

    i agree with \’KAY\’. She lost that emotion and MOVEMENT she had when she used to perform. It seems she\’s too focused on getting in the highest stilletos possible. I F-ing love mariah carey, she\’s awesome, but while this recording may be good and all, her live performances are not, and many of them have been lip-synched. I wish she would perform on the stage like she does in the recording studio to prove that she still has it. With Whitney coming back (eventually),and Patti killing every performance she does, Mariah needs to step it up. I\’d rather have her singing her ass off in a moomoo than half-assing it in a sparkly dress. dayum.

    i hate this song (this version at least)….it just shows how mariah has “lost her roots”..nice video but she does not sing with any soul or emotion like she used to and it shows..i just hope she doesn’t remake “i don’t wanna cry” or “can’t let go” …harsh, but true.

    p.s. i agee wit Bp86 as well….that plays a role as well

    I love Mariah. Point Blank Period. She can do no wrong. I have supported all of her efforts (even glitter) and will continue to. And she looks beautiful on the cover.

    While i do agree that her performances have gone downhill but after hearing this song, her voice hasn’t gone anywhere.

    I agree with #2,4, and 5 mariah has no emotion anymore when she sings its like all the songs she dose now she just gos in the studio and sings and then lip syncs live…its like she sings because she has too not because she loves it…with this last album i lost so much love and respect for her as an artist

    Not impressed. Mariah is on the verge of FALLING OFF. She needs to get her ass back in the game and cut this let-me-show-off-my-body-to-sell-records crap, cause thats not what put her on top of the charts. We want to hear some GOOD music from her and not this weak floptastic garbage we’ve been hearing from her lately.

    OK so the best part of the whole video is when the dog jumps up to grab his toy. She looks so dumb, she is absolutely the worst performer in the world. Even worse, how do you butcher your own song. Such a shame!

    It is quite wrong to listen to the song and watch the video at same time and say there is no soul and connection to it… This is because she does the video differently and not exactly and necessary the way she recorded the song… This is commercial release… You will definitely see much of her soul of inspiring others when she does it live… Like in Mariah X Factor etc… Please do not judge based on the video… Commercial use and studio recording and live performances will be different… Who does not agree she give soul to her performance? I love you Mariah, always… ;-)
