John Legend is the latest celebrity to weigh in on the Chris Brown-Rihanna fight.
“I know both of them. I was surprised when I heard because it doesn’t strike me as something Chris would do,” Legend told PEOPLE in Las Vegas on Thursday, where he performed at the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue release party.
“You never know what’s inside people or what can trigger that,” the Grammy winner added.
“It’s an awful story,” he said. “I feel terrible for both of them but if Chris did what they said he did, that’s unacceptable. He has to accept the consequences of it.”
John Legend will embark on the European leg of his tour later this month.

I like both artist I will still support Chris Brown. Unfortunately things happen and it happens to the best of us. As a woman I have prevoked my X but thank God I know when to say when…I pray this wont tarnish Chris Browns career. We shouldnt be so quick to judge you never know what will happen to you on a day to day basis!!!!! Toy from Columbus Ohio…..

I agree with John -I don’t need to hear both sides of the story all I needed to know is that he put his hands on her,in my eyes that makes him a b*tch
If you’re a real man you don’t put your hands on a women period!!!!!!!!!!

Things happen? reporting a fact “chris beat up rihanna” and saying that it is wrong is judging the person? i didn’t know. i thought that was judging the action, not the person. and the same “thou shall not judge people” are judging rihanna for “provoking” him with no proof at all. FACT is she has been physically abused, chris had NO BRUISE, everything else is speculation. we are living in such a politically correct world, that it’s not even okay to say that beating up a woman is wrong and that no reason should lead to this or excuse it. when the “we don’t know what happened” tirade comes from women, it makes it even worse.
chris brown said in his public statement that he is sorry that it TRANSPIRED, not that he actually did it. the man is showing through this statement that he doesn’t even care, and people are still worrying about if his career will suffer? wtf is wrong with yall???
i’m glad jayz, kanye and john legend were MEN ENOUGH to say that it was unacceptable, im glad they have her back unlike all of the cowards supporting chris just because he’s famous (or a man). this situation really opened my eyes on what society thinks of domestic abuse and why women are afraid of talking about it. they aren’t believed OR they are told “well you probably provoked the man”. disgusting. and YES women are part of the problem.

Yup I did it. Now who’s next for the beating. I got all these naí¯ve girls sweating me.

Very, very well put Ebony. I was beginning to be afraid and ashamed to be an American female due to feeling like I was the only person who thought that as well. All this sympothy for Chris because some are fans or just thinks it’s”his bad”. That’s bull. And very sad to hear that people think its ok.

Very well said ebony. I applaud you. Maybe if these lil girls would rean that, it might just open their eyes.

Los Angeles (E! Online) – While this week’s album sales were dominated by Grammy winners and big debuts by India.Arie and Lily Allen, there was one subplot playing out further down the chart: Rihanna vs. Chris Brown.
In the wake of a Grammy day altercation that left her in the hospital and him under arrest, Rihanna was embraced by a clearly sympathetic public. Sales of her 2007 album, Good Girl Gone Bad, surged 33 percent, selling another 25,000 copies at No. 31.
Meanwhile, Brown’s 2007 album, Exclusive, continued to see sluggish sales, failing to register among the Top 200.

IF you were not there when it happened, you are only making an assumption. and when you make an assumption, you make an A-S-S out of U and M-E. So shut the fuck up!
