Oprah’s Advice to Chris Brown & Rihanna

Oprah, Rihanna, and Chris Brown

One of the most powerful women in the world, Oprah Winfrey, is speaking out about the Chris Brown-Rihanna incident.

“It makes me so sad,” Oprah said on Friday’s live edition of her popular talk show. “Love doesn’t hurt. If a man hits you once, he will hit you again,” she warned.

Her advice for the recently reunited couple? “If I were your friend, I would call you up and say give it some time. Get yourself some counseling.”

The Queen of Daytime TV has dedicated a show to “the Rihannas of the world.” The episode, entitled “Dating Violence,” will air Thursday, March 12.

This is all understandable…and i agree that a man should lay a hand on a woman…but we also have females that know how to provoke and play the victim in the end…not saying that he should have beaten the shyt out of her…but there are two sides to every story.

Love really doesn’t hurt, and if it does than it isn’t real. If Oprah says it, then you know its true. Just leave Rihanna, goodness.

NOTHING excuses what he did. We don’t even know if she provoked him, and even if she did it doesn’t change the fact that he had no right to do it. If a child says something provocative, are you gonna abuse and kill him or her? Did you read the report of the assault on TheSmokingGun.com? These are official documents. It was because he cheated and she asked about a text message, and what he did was animalistic. If it hadn’t happened in a car she would be DEAD, he damaged her whole body not just her face.

She probably knows enough because she’s not in an unhealthy relationship. Do you think because you’re in a relationship you know something about love? Tons of people are in dysfunctional relationships and know NOTHING about love, while many single ones learned from their experiences and KNOW what is love and what is not. Oprah’s words are the words of a wise woman who has lived the life. She is right, if it hurts it is NOT love. Love is supposed to nurture you, not destroy you. The reason most people STAY in unhealthy relationships is because they don’t even have a clue what love is. They “think” what they have is love but it is not. The way someone treats you tell you exactly what is it. If there’s no respect, I don’t care how many times that person says “I love you”, their actions prove otherwise, therefore this is NOT love.

I couldnt agree more with Oprah. It’s sad because i know for a fact that if Rihanna stays with Chris, it will happen again. I wish her family would talk some real sense into her.

Oprah doesn’t have to be married, you sound (the earlier poster) like an idiot, to say just because she (Oprah) isn’t she has no business getting involved. I’m a man and I’ve never put my hands on any woman I’ve ever been with, and I had some that said or did things that some lesser guys would of did what Chris(The Punk)Brown did. Any man that hits a woman is a PUNK!!!!.. Oprah doesn’t have to be a MARRIED WOMAN to give advice about accepting physical abuse, NO and I mean NO woman deserves that.

He should rot in jail and try to slap around a real man, not some woman that he is 3 to 4 times stronger then. It send a bad signal to the younger generation if they think this crap is acceptable and it isn’t.

Finally Oprah chimped in with her 2cents worth

In the meantime I am offended by Oprah dedicating a show on domestic violence for “the Rihanas of the world.” What a joke. Oprah is not qualified in domestic violence; she has never been in a relationship. Also, very few women have had the good fortune and advantages that Rihana has had. To compare others to Rihana is foolish. Rihana has the means to stay away from Chris Brown. That she chooses to be with him is 100% her own fault.

don’t hit anyone if you don’t want to get hit back. i honestly believe that rihanna hit chris first and thought that he wouldn’t hit her back. well he did. my mother always told my brother to never hit a girl, but she also told me to never slap a man and expect nothing to happen, because i might get surprised.
