Mya is speaking out against domestic violence on a new song called “Blackout.” Mya’s camp reached out to Rihanna’s people after her fight with Chris Brown to see if they were interested in it. But we doubt you’ll be hearing these lyrics out of the “Umbrella” singer’s mouth (“Put your hands down right now and back up motherf*cker”).

“I’m still pissed from it and even more pissed that they are back with these guys,” says Mya. “But those are my girls and I love ’em for life. I just seriously hope there’s not a next time.”

WOW. i REALLY like this. This is totally what Rihanna SHOULD be thinking. In my opinion, she lost a lot of credibility by not appearing to be a strong woman and at least taking some sort of stand for herself. Mya really made a statement here. I can stand behind her 100% on this. Good for her.

I feel ya Mya on this one. So real and so true! Every woman should feel like this. I’m sure every father has told their little girl to never let a man put their hands on them, no matter what. Thank you Mya!!! At least someone has the strength to take a stand and say something. Instead of straddling the fence, tryna save face. It would be a totally different story if it happened to our sister, daughter or mom. But no matter how we feel, it’s still up to women to stand up for themselves. We can’t force any one to leave a bad situation. All we can do is pray. No woman should have to take that from NO man, I don’t care who he is!! And I totally agree with what BP86 said. Go ahead Mya, mad respect!

I feel sad when I read how women who come back to their agressors are labelled “weak” when quite frankly people should be pointing fingers at the agressor, regardless of the poor judgement of the victim, who is psychologically damaged, something we always forget to mention. Law has been created to punish bad deeds regardless of the victim’s judgement, because 9 times out of 10 victims blame themselves for their agressors actions, kids like adults. No matter what Rihanna chose, let’s not be so quick to call her stupid and tell her she deserves it, because we’re treating her LIKE her agressor, law is not supposed to take her decision into account because she’s too mentally damaged to be rational.

Mya is sending a nice message, however, this is coming from someone who’s NEVER been in that situation. So yes this is what battered women “should be thinking”, but the “shoulds” often comes from people who are from the outside looking in, not from the people who live the nightmare.
