Video: Beyoncé Covers Alanis Morissette & Sarah McLachlan

Beyoncé kicked off the first show from her I Am… tour in Canada at Edmonton’s Rexall Place by covering songs by two Canadian artists. B rocked out to Alanis Morissette’s “You Oughta Know” (avoiding the f-word) and sang an a cappella version of Sarah McLachlan’s “Angel” in a white wedding dress, below.

    Got to MTO…

She’s selling tickets to tonight’s show for $20 because she can’t fill the arenas.

Waits for stan excuses to flow in…

Look at her hair and plain costume. Just watch her videos, and save your money!!!!

I WAS THERE!! that white wedding dress thing looked bad but the rest of her outfits were awesome. she was even flying (with the help of cables of course) and she landing in the middle of the audience. This is the 2nd beyonce concert ive been too. i must say though, i liked the first one better.

@ SashaFlopTour I agree with you. She also got some bad reviews from what i read. they described her show as corny and awkward.
She lies too much in interviews. So, she’s definitely no good role model. see mediatakeout!
Didn’t she said she’s greedy in some interview? i guess that’s why she goes with a halloween weeding dress on stage. lol

I see the haters showing their ignorance like mto. MTO went to the price section and choose the lowest ticket price to create a stupid story . they were 5 different prices in the section at the ticketmaster website from $200 to $25.00 which was in the nose bleed section. you idiots need to read before you jump on the hater banwagon.
And for the hater who talk about bad reviews why dont you talk about the good reviews.

    Beyonce no ordinary performer

By Stephanie Classen, The StarPhoenixMarch 28, 2009 9:30 AM

Friday night’s Beyonce concert in Saskatoon was all about the spectacle. A dimmer star would fade amidst the strategically lit-up codpiece, the Cirque du Soleil-style flying and the troupe of backup dancers wearing nothing but skintight PVC.

But Beyonce is no ordinary performer. From note one, the 27-year-old powerhouse rose above all the gimmicks, mastering the show like a sexy alien overlord princess. Nothing but extraterrestrial origins could explain that voice.

Opening with the song Deja Vu from her album B’Day, Beyonce emerged on the complex stage and the overdressed audience happily rose out of Credit Union Centre’s plastic seats. She sparkled in a gold bodysuit with a massive bow bustle — the first of many pantless costumes. Flanked by an all-female band, the night unfolded with hit after hit, all starring a woman who could perform circles around any other pop star today.

The Saskatoon concert was just the second stop on a tour that will eventually traverse the globe. Edmonton, a seemingly odd choice, was privy to the very first Beyonce I Am . . . stop. The StarPhoenix wasn’t allowed to shoot photos of the show, but plenty have already been leaked online thanks to cellphone cameras. One can’t help but wonder if holding the first few shows in smaller cities was meant to work out any kinks before the tour reaches bigger markets. It that was the case it wasn’t necessary, because Saskatoon’s show was nothing short of spectacular.

Beyonce already has a huge catalogue of hits to draw from thanks to her solo records, her role in Destiny’s Child and her work in movies. She wailed — not just sang — Crazy in Love, Naughty Girl, Freakum Dress, Radio and Check On It. There was also a DC medley that, of course, featured the aptly named Bootylicious. A surprise Canadian shout out — for those who didn’t read the Edmonton reviews — came when she sang excerpts of You Oughta Know by Alanis Morisette and Angel by Sarah McLachlan.

The fierceness that is her sassy half Sasha made for the most danceable, fun moments of the show, but Beyonce also slowed it down for the angelic Halo and If I Were a Boy.

But the woman can do more than sing. Her Tina Turner legs — and dance moves to match — and confident, yet down-to-earth, charm were all on display. It is rare to see someone perform that hard when they could simply rely on blessed vocal cords.

Beyonce doesn’t really need the bells and whistles of a big stadium show, but it sure makes for an unforgettable concert. And as she says in the song Ego, “I walk like this ‘cuz I can back it up.”

Former Canadian Idol contestant Eva Avila opened the show. Though she has grown since her stint on the TV talent show, an overactive smoke machine and blinding spotlights obscured her performance. Plus, at only four songs, the petite singer didn’t get much of a chance to fulfil her warming-up duties. At best, Avila offered a pretty voice and a few average pop songs. Her performance was nice, but the Owe It All To You singer will be the last thing on the mind’s of Saskatoon concertgoers today.

    I Am BeyGreedy

    LMAOOOOOO

    at the stans posting reviews!!!

    She Is Sasha Flop

In London she is slated for 4 shows, only one has sold out.

She has had to downgrade to smaller arenas to make it appear she’s playing to larger crowds and she can’t even sell out the smaller arenas.

    LMFAOOOOO
WHO DOES SASHA FLOP THINK SHE IS MADONNA? JANET? BRITNEY? THEY ARE THE TOUR QUEENS.

BeyGreedy rushed to put this tour together. It’s erratic all over the place, robots, peter pan antics, bridezilla, who the fuchk is she really?

I Am……..(dot, dot, dot, dot is right) she doesn’t know. She lacks creativity.

her image is bigger than her talent. She is a mediocre singer and a rehearsed dancer. Her acting SUX!!!!

And no other artist has ever used the excuse of “practice tour” to work out the kinks. LMFAOOOOO

Matthew and BeyGreedy sure are creative when it’s time to spin, spin, spin. SHE IS NOT POPULAR ANYMORE. SHE IS JUST ANOTHER ARTIST TRYING TO GET HITS and needs endorsements, sadly she doesn’t use any of the products, she just endorses for bragging and money. That is it.

BeyGreedy’s music is ghetto, hoochie-fied. Her sales and fan base are dwindling

She should be gaining fans and sales, not losing them

She hasn’t performed Ghetto Diva before the concert because she was too embarrassed to dance and hop around like a baboon in a dusty warehouse after she begged, paid 8 million dollars to sing at last only to be rushed off the platform by the secret service immediately after. LMFAOOOO

Now she has to put up a front, good girl image and keep her legs closed because she is *cough* a role model.

Please, BeyGreedy is a stripper pole away from butt nekked!

    She is such a farce!
