Amerie lands on her feet with “Why R U?” the first single from her fourth album In Love & War. The Buchanans production features an old-school beat perfect for summertime. Is Amerie back on her A-game?

WOWWW! This song is very good Amerie is taking a whole other route the old school feel her voice fits those types of beats. Im gonna say this now since Aaliyah no other female artist has brought that depth in there songs….Amerie’s songs do it for me!

This is very similar to “Because I love It”‘s sound.
It’s typical her. It won’t be a smash on the radio, but it sounds like her style, so I’m happy Def Jam didn’t make her conform to today’s music.

this is a good song, but she needs to come harder than this for a first single.
she needs some bang like “one thing”.

Her voice sounds so raw on this track, i love it. Unfortunately, it’s one of those tracks that i don’t see being played on top 40 radio but hopefully it will do well on the R&B charts (if urban radio plays it).

I think most people who appreciate hip-hop and who are 18+ can appreciate this track.. I love it! def reminds me of summer and has amerie signature vocals.. It’s goin on my summer mix for sure; idc if they play on radio bcuz I don’t listen to it. they play the same 5 songs all day

it’s just okay for me. I was hoping for a more explosive first single. When “1 thing” came out it was nuts and different. love that song. I wish her the best, but this single will not sell her album, i hope they release a second single before the album is released.
