Rap-Up.com || Mariah Carey Remix Puts the ‘G in Ghetto’

Mariah Carey is collaborating with Gucci, and this time, it’s not on her designer ensemble.

The superstar hinted that she recorded a remix to “Obsessed,” the first single off her new album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, with an unspecified rapper.

“Listening to ‘Obsessed’ remix on repeat, -guest rapper-cant tell u who it is but he put the G in Ghetto!” tweeted her friend Jasmine Dotiwala. “Sick combo-hotness.”

The special guest has been revealed as Gucci Mane. In an interview with DJ Drama on Hot 107.9 in Atlanta, the ATL-raised MC confirmed that he was in the studio with Mariah and laid down a verse on the remix to “Obsessed.” Gucci has a strong presence on the underground scene. His highest commercial-charting hit was “Freaky Gurl” off 2006’s Hard to Kill.

The original version of “Obsessed” will premiere on Tuesday on Chicago’s B96.

I just want to hear the original version, i don’t care about the remix right now, haha. I’m surprised they chose Gucci for the remix though, i thought they would have chosen a more maintream rapper like Lil Wayne or Young Jeezy.

Yeah Catie, I would’ve thought that too.. but Lil wayne is so over used and frankly overrated right now.. and she worked with Jeezy last time..

Still not sure why she chose Gucci, but who knows. She must like his work or either he has the right connections. Great exposure for him tho!

@ Mach she worked with Rick Ross on Touch My Body.. and if she would do a remix with him for Obsessed than it would be boring… Look at We Belong Together & Don’t Forget About Us Remix both with Jadakiss and Juelz Santana (I think it’s Juelz) it was really boring :(

So I would like to hear Gucci and Wayne :P

i think its very impressive of her to go with gucci, gives her some more street cred and his voice will be something fresh for people that dont know him, a remix with a lil wayne verse is so yesterday.

OMG IM SOOO EXCITED This is what im talking about!!! Now Mariah is cooking with Grease!!! GUCCI Is perfect for this album. I love mariah with the guest rappers and GUCCI is going to say some crazy shit. Hopefully she releases the regular single and do the video for the remix version like fantasy!! Ok. I’m not too certain as to who “Gucci” is and I will soon find out. But I suspect that he is definatly someone worth dealing with if our Girl has enlisted his help to burn the competition thus spawn yet another upcoming #1 hit. Regardless of anything Mariah releases with/without colaboration is cause for excitement. If she has chosen to work with someone who’s work some of us are not familiar with, then watch out! And your right Andre, Mariah may be cooking with Grease, and that kind of “fire” is just as dangerous and gas! I cant wait!
