Rap-Up.com || Nas Gets Ethered in Court

A baby boy isn’t the only bundle of joy Kelis received this week. A day after giving birth to her son in New York City, the new mom received a major payday in court.

According to The Associated Press, the child’s father Nas has been ordered by a Los Angeles court to pay nearly $44,000 a month in support.

The judge also ordered the rapper to pay $45,000 to cover costs for Kelis’ attorney and forensic accountant. The payments could be reduced at a hearing scheduled for Sept. 8.

Nas was absent from the delivery room when Kelis gave birth to their son Knight Jones on Wednesday night.

although i don’t agree with nas’ actions, paying $44K a month is a little to excessive. I believe a judge will definitely reduce that amount. He’s not making money like that anymore and he won’t be able to keep up the payments. I agree with the person that Nas shouldn’t be responsible for Kelis’ failed career. She should have saved or invested her earnings more responsibly.

You idiots don’t even know whats going on! This has nothing to do with her career dummies. He cheated so therefore he has to pay Spousal support, child support, the mortgage on their house, her lawyer and etc. Kelis had an amazing lawyer, so ya’ll can’t mad at her. She only wanted 20k, but her lawyer went in and got 55k a month. She deserves it. Nas is a cheating ass bastard and he’s the reason why they are divorcing. And might I add, Kelis didn’t turn Nas away at the hospital, the doctors did because he was drunk. While he was popping bottles, she was in labor for 3 days.

the only interesting part of this story is that he wasn’t there at the birth. given the circumstances I think that’s unfair if he was barred. and uncool if he choose not to be there. Assuming the first.. he’s obligated to pay child support why isn’t she obligated to at least let him be present at the birth.
That said everyone only talks about the money. 44k is a huge amount of money. Is it unfair? I don’t care what sort of career she left behind and I doubt she’s playing that card but it that’s like 90% of his income it’s way too much. Given that he probably cheated and she probably has proof then anything more than say 60-70% of what he gets is irresponsible.
