GREY GOOSE Entertainment toasted Wale, Ryan Leslie, Keri Hilson, and The-Dream at the debut of BET’s “Rising Icons” series at 1OAK in New York City on Monday. The evening featured a performance from Keri and appearances by Christina Milian, Kristinia DeBarge, and Julissa Bermudez.

Everybody hatin’ on them, but why? I don’t understand, I like Wale’s Go-Go raps, Ryan Leslie makes incredible beats, Keri Hilson is an awesome writer and The-Dreams production work is also very cool. Go find an hobby instead of anonymously bug blogs with all the hate.

Although I must say Wale looks like he needs to take a dump on the pics above, lol.

First off dip shits an ICON is more that just getting on stage swinging weave and shaking your ass..It’s more than just having number ones and platinum albums…..

It’s about being an artist is every since of the word….I Love Alicia and Beyonce BUT…They both have made their mark in music…Keri Hilson and Chrisette are killing the game….The Dream and ryan are too….If you notice they are all Singers and Songwriters with multiple hits under their belt….

So please get over yourself and the hate….And to be honest Alicia Keys is the only Iconic Female R&B star of this generation…Not no damn Beyonce….

Nah u sound so stupid are u telling me Ryan leslie doesnt have the potential? Dude is more talented than most those artists musically hes a genius! He produces, sings, raps now tell me who up there can do that except him??? As for the Dream he writes songs more so doesnt produce tracks people need to know that the dreams producers are tricky stewart and Los the mystro but his song writing skills are definately the best right now!

Rising icons?? More like rising stars….thats it. Its too early to assume these artists will be “icons” in the near future. Its possible but too early to tell. Like someone has already mentioned…Beyonce, A.Keys, Rihanna(she has potential), Usher, B.Spears, and Justin Timberlake are the only few that can be considered iconic. And truth be told, Beyonce and Britney are already icons of todays music, especially within the gay community. And if yall don’t know, yall better ask somebody!!

SORRY FOR THE CAPS BUT I JUST WANNA STAND OUT. BET MIGHT MEAN ICON AS IN MAKING A HUGE DIFFERENCE IN WHAT THEY DO. AND BEYONCE AND THE OTHER PEOPLE YALL SAID ARE ALREADY CONSIDERED ICONS OF THIS TIME IN MUSIC, THEY ALREADY MADE THEIR MARK. THESE PEOPLE BET SELECTED ARE RISING IN WHAT THEY DO.

To who ever said Keri Hilson and Chrisette are killing the Game right now you crazy if you think so because Keri and Chrisette are only famous on B.E.T PERIOD. If you wanna know which 2 girls are killing the game right now is Lady Gaga and Kristinia Debarge hands down so pls do not think that Keri or Chrisette are RISING ICONS ok because about 75% of Americanizes do not know who the hell Keri or Chrisette IS.

Ok homie you talkin crazy!!! Now I got all of these artist music in my collection, but if you think they are even close to being Icons and Beyonce isn’t YOU ARE INSANE!!! Beyonce and Alicia Keys are clearly the closest to being an Icon than a lot of other artist. I don’t even need to go into what they have done in Music and Film cause you already know. I’m not a crazy Beyonce fan but she IS one of the greatest and has been for a while now. So is Alicia Keys and John Legend!!!

How are these 4 rising Icons and they’re on their first LP’s!?!? I could see if it were Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Ne-Yo, Rihanna, Ciara, John Legend or CB people who have stood the test of time and proven themselves over and over again. AFTER having more than ONE album and a couple of hits. Icons are people like Mariah Carey, Boyz II Men, Toni Braxton, Whitney Houston, Babyface, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, MJ and Janet. To even say “Rising” Icon is an insult. It’s like be patient DAMN lol this cracks me up!

Janet Jackson didn’t even get the honor of being call an Icon until like 10 years into her career. I swear a lot of these new artist are so ungrateful these days. None of seem to have respect for those who came before them…it’s all about THEM. It’s so pathetic and ugly to see. I guess BET just needed to throw punches at someone or needed more people’s egos to stroke.

I agree they are rising STARS, but Icons, COME ON!? They should pay some homage to artist like Usher, Toni Braxton, Brandy, Monica and so on, because they helped pave the way just like a lot of the Icons I named above. And they most likely inspired tons of artist today, like The-Dream and Keri I’m sure of it.

And also if being an Icon were only about RIGHT NOW and not about the whole body of work than there would be no Icons because none of their previous work would count. That makes no since! That would also mean that if any of the 4 artist above didn’t have a hit single the next time around and a new artist did than I guess the newbie would be the “Rising Icon” and they wouldn’t matter anymore. That’s just stupid.

why isnt bet paying homage to real icons like Mariah Carey, MJ and Janet, or Whitney Houston

and why is this show called rising ICONS and not rising STARS it took mariah about 3 albums before ppl started calling her a rising icon on her first album ppl thought she was gonna be a one album wonder all these bitches are still on there first album half of them only have 2 or 3 hits none of them even have number one hits

the list should have been

1.Rihanna
2.Chris Brown
3.Ne Y and so on ppl who have released more than 1 album and have number one hits
