Rap-Up.com || Mariah to Release Ballad as New Single?

After a rocky start with her single “Obsessed” and a couple album pushbacks, Mariah Carey is resorting to plan B.

SHOWBIZ 411′s Roger Friedman reports that Mariah will release a “powerhouse ballad along the lines of ‘Vision of Love’” as the follow-up to “Obsessed,” which currently holds the No. 14 spot on the Billboard Hot 100.

She is also back with her old publicist Cindi Berger of famed public relations group PMK/HBH. The two parted ways after Mariah’s Charmbracelet project.

The pop diva’s 12th studio album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, has been rescheduled for the second time. The set will now arrive on September 29.

Berger explained the reason for the delay. “Record release dates change all the time,” she told PEOPLE. “It’s nothing unusual and it doesn’t signal anything. There are a lot of moving parts to Mariah’s professional life … She’s making sure the record is how she wants it to be and it’s no big deal.”

Let”s stop making this a big deal this happens with all artists when something doesnot work they move onto the next thing. Mariah is no different. Do what you have to do to find success if a ballad will do the track to give this album the success it needs I say go for it.

“After a rocky start” wtf? What is so rocky about having a single that is currently #14 on the Billboard Top 100. Besides, the radio airplay for Obsessed has been slowly rising every day and the physical CD single has been selling out at Walmart’s across the country. Not to mention, the song is holding steady at #13 on itunes. I hate how everyone places the incredibly high standard on her just because she has 18 #1 hits. Just because “Obsessed” has not gone straight to #1 does not mean that it is a failure. And by the way, Releasing a power ballad as the next single is not resorting to Plan B, she was planning to do that all along.

I agree with Jay! “It’s like that” didn’t quite make the top ten but we all know how successful the follow up single was and of course The Emancipation Of Mimi. Don’t label her a flop yet people, we haven’t even heard this new album!!

easy there tim you need to relax your hatoration towards a living legend. nobody cares about her? if nobody cared about her she wouldn’t have 18 #1 songs, she wouldn’t have her name in the press every other day, don’t get it twisted there are enough people anticipating the release of ‘Memoirs…’ she the only one running some serious game in the business right now. i wouldn’t be surprised if she ties the beatles and has another #1 record after this era. keep breaking them records MC! obsessed is gonna shoot up the charts watch!

Have to keep it real. Mariah can’t sing live anymore and she is too busy trying to prostitute herself out like she is a 20 year old hottie. She STARTED out classy then went to the street corner. That is why no one respects her. Not to mention this hip hop crap she has been doing. This album is going to flop and she knows it. She should have come harder as a WOMAN.

I’m talking about NOW! Nobody cares about her NOW! The only people supporting her are her stans. Don’t give a list of her PAST accomplishments I know them like the back of my hand. Obsessed is probably the most terrible lyrical content I’ve ever heard. TMB is a close second. I agree with everything Mya said. I just don’t respect her or her music anymore. She’s fake 100%.

i said lead singles are supposed to be biggg hits like in the top 10 range or top 5 range . and i know she debuted at number 11 so its close to the top 10 but . not many people know shes coming out with an new album . like obsessed got peopel tlaking about mariah & eminem more than her new album

i love mariah . cant wait for the new cd but i think they should release a top 5 hit songs before it comes out . just to be safe

Everyone needs to back off of her, Lord knows you all would not like to be judged like u are doing to her. So stop hating and judging based on jealousy and grow up. she is talented and she still has her voice, I am looking forward to her new album and seeing her in vegas.
