Mariah Carey goes back to ballads, covering Foreigner’s ’80s classic “I Want to Know What Love Is” on the second single from her new album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel (Sept. 29). The C. “Tricky” Stewart and James “Big Jim” Wright production is a total 180 from the Eminem-baiting first offering, “Obsessed.” But is this really single material?

Not single material at all!! This should be just a bonus/hidden track on the album and, btw, who needed a cover of this song? I love you Mariah but…

Adios Mimi, welcome back Mariah! I like this sentence. Mimi is from the 2000′s who makes generic pop/rnb music, Mariah is the girl that really sang her heart out in the 90s.
This song reminds me of 2005′s Emancipation of Mimi, when she brought back the voice. After a dud like Obsessed I think this song will at least save her album and career.

I mean you are asking if it can be a single? Why not? Whitney new song is a ballad single that everyone claims is great. Why Mariah cant have one? Thats what everybody has been bitching and crying for. Now you got one. And it is amazing. Her voice is not gone. This is what Im talking bout MC. Go get them.

Come on be serious, you fools are quick to jump on the band wagon, I would love to here this LIVE!!, Third rate production, like it was made with FLStudio, you mean with such a great original song, this is the best they could do, Easy vocal arrangments, it was simple to do , just because she did her trademark howls, doesnt equate to NEW or FRESH!!!. Some songs are not meant to be remade, like Thriller, LET IT BE< And a host of other songs< this song is ONE OF THEM!!! i know its hard in the biz for original material but isnt this what ARTISTS supposed to do
[Reply]
August 28th, 2009 at 9:05 pm
what band wagon? if a song is good its good. and this remake is classic. your on your own here, mars gfk. this is classic mariah only she can take an original and make it her own, in some cases even better. get over it. don’t be hating on a living legend.

I love it. This is her best ballad since We Belong Together and Don’t Forget About Us. I think that it is going to be huge. I am so glad that she is back to S-I-N-G-I-N’ like only she can I have heard Whitney’s ballad and I felt sorry for her she had lost her voice she has to strain to hit notes that arent even high
