Timbaland Missing from Leona Lewis Album

Leona Lewis and Timbaland

Leona Lewis’ new album will feature an all-star cast of contributors, but one name that will be absent is Timbaland. The “Happy” singer explains why.

Lewis and the super-producer did log studio time, but don’t expect to hear the fruits of their labor on her sophomore effort Echo. “I went in the studio with Timbaland and we vibed out,” she tells Rap-Up.com. “The thing is, on this album, there were a lot of people that I’d been with on the first album so I knew them and we kinda got into the vibe straight away.”

But don’t rule out a future collaboration. “Obviously I’m still getting to know Timbaland,” she says. “It’s kind of a continuing and evolving relationship, so this time he’s not on the album, but hopefully next time he will be.”

While Timbo may be M.I.A., Justin Timberlake, Novel, Ne-Yo, and Ryan Tedder did make the project, due November 17.

If BP3 was any indication Timbo is missing something (Possibly the assist in arrangements from Danja Handz this time around). Something seems kind of flat and lifeless about his production as of late.

So in short words she is saying his production for the album was shit? He has not produced a hit in ages.. Slowly fading…..

Same thing with Brandy, Mariah and Mary J. Blige. It seems like someone is always going in with Timbaland but his tracks never make the cut. What’s up with that?

@ ugh Beautiful Nightmare or Sweet Dreams whatever you call it was produced by Jim Jonsin and some other peeps. Leona is TALENTED, this girl can really sing. She will have some heat on this album with or without. Artists always record more than they need anyway. They pick 15 or so songs out of 35/40 tracks.

Basically it comes down to this: You go in with Tim, pay him an advance, hope that what you’re gonna get is going to be single worthy, cause if it isn’t, the full 100k is hardly justifiable.

Timb did have magic with Brandy on “Afrodisiac” but most people forget that.. I agree that he has fallen off a bit.. but hopefully he’s still got some tricks up his sleeve. Because he’s working with Nelly F. again and he’s worked with Brandy a lot lately and she was very excited about the tracks on twitter!!!!
