Rap-Up.com || Mariah Scores Top 3 Debut with ‘Memoirs’

It was the battle of the divas on the charts this week as Mariah Carey, Barbra Streisand, and Madonna all released new albums, but only one came out on top.

Streisand’s Love Is the Answer finishes in first with 180,415, edging out Paramore’s Brand New Eyes (175,112) and Carey’s Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, which comes in third place with 167,912 units sold in its first week.

The songbird’s last effort, 2008′s E=MC², debuted at No. 1 with 463,000, her biggest first week ever. This marks the second lowest opening week for Carey since Glitter in 2001 (116,000).

Elsewhere on the charts, Madonna’s greatest hits collection, Celebration, gets the party started at No. 7 with 72,159 copies, while Jay-Z’s The Blueprint 3 drops from No. 2 to No. 6 with 88,609.

Nielson Scan, Record label, United World Chart, RIAA etc… Clearly state Madonna is the best selling-female of all time world wide. Barbra is the highest selling in the US Madonna second and Mariah third but world wide Madonna is on top. So like you said kim “get your shit right”.

Her album leaked almost a week before release and there was free listening on different sites as well. She would have been #1. I doubt Bab’s album leaked!!! Plus, MC released an album in 2008, whereas it has been a while for Paramore and Bab’s. Not a failure by MC…just whoever leaked the album. The album is pretty GOOD.

PEOPLE, Mariah Carey HASNOT sold 250 million albums go look at the RIAA or The IFPI, she is not even in the top 10 artists of all time, in fact ONLY 2 female artists are, MADONNA at #3 behind Elvis and The Beatles and Whitney Houston at #10. Madonna is the #1 selling female vocalist of all time. In the USA Barbra Strisand is the #1 selling female vocalist by album sales, Total albums and singles Madonna is #1, globally no other female artist even comes close to Madonna’s album sales.

i mean really? Has anyone heard the album…snooze fest. I hate the fact that she sounds like The Dream on most of the tracks! Even her “lambs” didnt come out and get the album. she really needs to take a break, put some clothes on, and chill out for a second. Rest her vocals and make another Emancipation…grown up music. Seriously, if this was an artist like LeToya or Christina Milian then this would be a huge success (selling 167,912 in one week) but since it’s Mariah then it’s considered a flop. Mariah is at a point in her career where album sales really don’t matter. This is coming from somebody who’s not a Mariah stan (i did buy the album though). The album itself is amazing, there is not one filler track on the entire album. IMO, it’s much better than “E=MC2″ but not as balanced as “The Emancipation of Mimi”.

It’s a flot and all albums leak- whitney’s leaked 9 days before her release date and her label had her entire album streaming for free for 2 wks on her site, it was also streaming for 2 wks for free on Oprah’s site, the single ILTY was given away for free if you emailed her official site and she still sold 311k first week so that is not an excuse,

Jay’z's album leaked, sean kingston’s did etc. I bet you she won’t sell pas 68k copies this week- they know it is a flop that is why they are rushing out these remixes which will further cause it to flop cuz no one want to hear a 40yr old sing with nasty gucci mane, oj da juice man and big boi wiht JD talking over the track…uggghh! #FAIL!

No one is really calling the album a flop because its peak position was #3. It’s a flop because it fell to the bottom of the Top 200 chart in only 6 weeks. It also won’t even be certified gold. These are reasons WHY it’s a flop.
