Universal Readies Super Monday Lineup
Universal Music Group is serving up a plentiful feast for Thanksgiving week. Some of the biggest names in music will all release their high-profile albums on the Monday before the holiday.
The recording giant has moved up the majority of its November 24 releases by one day to Monday, November 23, a day before the traditional Tuesday release. The shift extends across the Universal umbrella, including Interscope Geffen A&M, Universal Motown/Republic, and Island Def Jam. The new date will take advantage of the start of the holiday shopping season when customers flock to stores to stock up on gifts.
Rap-Up.com is first to reveal six of the albums that have been affected by the date change, making your purchasing decision even tougher.
50 Cent – Before I Self Destruct
Rihanna – TBD
Timbaland – Shock Value 2
Lady Gaga – The Fame Monster
Jay Sean – All or Nothing
Birdman – Pricele$$

Telefonica has received 300,000 pre orders in the U.K. and Spain to buy 50 cent Before I Self Destruct , a company spokesman said Tuesday,” Jason Sinclair reports for Dow Jones Newswires.
“The spokesman said customers have been reserving units of the popular Artist on the company’s Web site since Telefonica announced it would sell the album earlier this month,” Sinclair reports.
“Telefonica will begin selling the album on November 17 in Spain, the Czech Republic and twelve Latin American countries,” Sinclair reports.

I will be highly interested to see who takes the #1 spot after Super Monday. Timbaland, Rihanna and Gaga could all easily take the cake, but don’t forget about (non-Universal artists) Britney and Adam Lambert. Even though Brit’s LP is a greatest hits collection, her fanbase is as strong as ever. And don’t forget what can happen when a bunch of overzealous American Idol fans rush to the CD stores (remember when Clay Aiken’s CD sold more than Ruben’s, the actual winner?).
I will probably be buying Timbaland, b/c his music is always good to workout to.
