Rap-Up TV: Wale Speaks on Jay-Z, Rihanna, Kanye, & Lady Gaga

Wale celebrates the second biggest day of his life tomorrow with the release of his debut album Attention Deficit.

Hip-hop’s underdog chilled with Rap-Up TV on the eve of his album release to talk about the advice he got from his Roc Nation boss Jay-Z, receiving Rihanna’s blessing to sample her song, getting the cold shoulder from Kanye West (“I don’t wait for handouts”), and why his “Chillin’” collaborator Lady Gaga is the next Madonna.

Rap-Up, I love your site, I don’t often comment on blogs cos half of them are so negative it’s depressing. But I think this site is the one of the top black blogs out there. Ur so quick with the updates and positive too. A little more flavour on UK/International artists would be nice but I still think you guys are wicked. :) Much respect

Anyhoo, I’m really feeling Wale since I heard him on Daniel Merriweather’s song. Can’t wait to get this album.

@vox populi, I couldn’t agree more with you. Rap-Up is a really great site. They deserve a whole lotta props for always being up to date with new material and even though there are a few haters here and there, on the whole most of the comments and the crowd here are really positive!!! I stopped going to Concrete Loop ‘cus over there they be saturated in hate!!!

It’s about time his album drops Damn! Mark Ronson is a dope Producer so I can’t wait to hear it. And keep ya head up and don’t worry about Kanye West. That man is clearly unstable, overrated, lol and needs to get his act together. And Big Ups to Lady Gaga. People can say whatever they want about her but the girl can sing, write, and play the piano. While other popstars are just lipsynching their whole careers (its Britney Bitch) lol.

Same Enbie, CL is alright but lately , the hate ( and I think it’s justifiable to use the overused word) is on another level. Apart from the J.Dakars posts on social/political/historical news, the rest is just blah. At least on here, you can like Beyonce’s, Rihanna’s, Melanie Fiona’s and Akeys songs simultaneously without stan overload.

Yeah Concrete Loop is sooooo biased. Rap-Up is better than them anyway. They post all the stuff way faster and they post way more stuff. I don’t even go to CL anymore.

Anyway this was a great interview! Thanks Rap-Up!! :D
