Mariah Carey keeps it “100” on her new uplifting song produced by Jermaine Dupri and Bryan-Michael Cox. The gospel-flavored anthem was originally intended for the Precious soundtrack before it was replaced by Mary J. Blige’s “I Can See in Color.” HOT 97 premiered it over the summer and it hasn’t been heard again until now.
The vocals are unreal. Her label is ridiculous for not seeing the hit-potential in this song. She’s really struggling with the Pop audience this time around, and this would be a huge hit for her there. The belting at the end is heanvely, and the lyrics are truly inspiring.
I generally don’t like Mariah Carey, but this is her best track in years. I’m surprised that it’s not on her latest, let alone a single. Who is running her career these days? This is an anthem for everyone…especially athletes.
I was expecting this to suck because everything else she’s put out recently has been nothin short of mediocre, but it’s actually REALLY good. She’s finally usin that voice again! This needs to be on the radio.
if she doesn’t put this on the deluxe edition of Memoirs, it’ll be a mistake. This song is breathtakingly beautiful, maybe even better than Angels Cry. Definitely deserves a place at least on the CD, if not as a single.
this is what Memoirs was missing! I don’t know if #1 this was one of the first songs she recorded this era and the vocals were rested, #2 She gets lazy with The Dream and just emulates his WEAK vocals from his demos, #3 B. Cox/ Jermaine Dupri have productions she can really sing over … but Mariah needs to get her shit together. Lyrically and vocally this is ahead of “Memoirs”.. I think she stayed away from this type of stuff because “Bye Bye” flopped so hard, but it’s a different thing IMO. Plus, she didn’t promote “Bye Bye” frolicking around with Nick.
Ok enough ranting.. I’m a lamb lol Don’t get me wrong, “memoirs” has high points and it’s solid, but come onnn
this song is really good / her vocals are AMAZING . she did a great job at expressing the message of the song. precious in the begining was a nice touch . I hope she preforms this @ the Oscars.
Lov’ this ! See this is what she should be puttin’ out 4 the record buying public…not the aging sex kitten shit that she has released over the last TOO many years !
This is song is amazing i have been waiting to hear this for ages her voice is just like when she first came outs its incrediable i hope she releases this song as a single because it will be big :)
MARIAH CAREY.. ALWAYS DOING HER BEST TO PLEASE , I MEAN SHE IS A MASTER VOCALIST, I JUST LOVE HER I CAN’T IMAGINE LIFE WITHOUT HER WOULD BE BORING. BUT A LOT FUN SHE IS A TRUE ROMANTIC LIKE ME.LOVE YOU MC.
