Video: Mariah Carey – ‘I Want to Know What Love Is’

Mariah Carey may have reached stadium status long ago, but her video for “I Want to Know What Love Is” barely gets to first base. The long-delayed clip for the cover of Foreigner’s hit is a black eye on the career of Hype Williams, who’s directed classics such as Jay-Z’s “Big Pimpin’” and TLC’s “No Scrubs.”

who honestly can’t appreciate her talent. but this video was a waste of a lot of ppl’s time and money. i feel she always messes everything up by being to showy or over the top. i want the old mariah back. raw talent only – no need for glitter!

I feel like this is why the video took so long to come out: I really don’t think MC or her team liked the ending result and tried to doctor it up, that’s just what I heard. I don’t like it either. I still like the song tho. She’s still a very talented person. I love the hair but not the outfit. I’ve always appreciated the talent tho. Can’t hate on that. I guess I’ll have to wait and see what the video for H.A.T.E.U looks like…

PS If Mariah did an acapella/acoustic album, maybe something similar to Take 6 – I’d buy it all day long!! but all these over produced beats and her trying to keep a young image is so played. she needs to bring us back to visions of love . keeping it old school aint a bad thing.

At least she covered up in this video…and looked somewhat classy…love the hair style…but look like someone was being a little cheap when directing this video…i hope she remake this video.

Fam-Lay (wherever he’s at) is smiling right now…he knows that his video for “Da Beeper Record” is no longer the biggest screwjob Hype Williams has ever pulled on an artist!

As much as I love Mariah, and respect Hype’s work…this is horrible. I couldn’t even watch the whole thing. It’s just boring, and wack. It should have never been released. She really needs to fire some of her camp this is getting ridiculous.

I think its nice, simple, and uplifting… the video is very nice

if she would’ve been in a real stadium with fans- i think it would’ve been awesome. but budget probably wouldn’t allow that

wtf was that? love mariah and the song…but what is this video? gets boring after 10 sec.

why do even release a video? the time for “i wanna know..” is over…
it has been announced as the second single like…2 months ago? and now the video? too late

    release a new single…
how about “standing o”? with the right promo could be big for mariah

She would have been better off just making collage video of her performing the song at different events. Honestly, the video was pretty bad but what makes it even worse is that a top notch director directed it.

1st she ruined a good song, then she went and made a horrific video to compliment it, go team Mariah.
