Pink tanks, machine guns, and a little duct tape go a long way in Rihanna’s “couture military” video for “Hard,” the latest single from her fourth album Rated R featuring Young Jeezy. The pop star joins forces with director Melina (Beyoncé, Ciara) for the first time and the results are explosive.

“Everything is surrounded around the idea of something military,” Rihanna says of the clip. “We have tanks, we have troops, we’ve got helicopters, we’ve got explosions. We’ve got lots of cute outfits, lots of bullets. It’s crazy.”

Ok i dare any fasihole hater blogger to say anything bad about this video cause this was fkin incredible video Melina did an absolute amazing job on this video. Rihanna not only looked amazing but the whole theme of the video went exactly with the song. Beyonce dont make videos like this. I enjoy Melina videos very much, but somehow I’m slightly disappointed by this. I think Melina is at her best when coupled with some great choreography, like in Ciara’s “Work,” which is one of my favorite videos from this year. This video has some visually stunning scenes, but overall gets a bit boring with Rihanna just walking and prancing around half naked.
I also think the pink computer-generated tank looks ridiculous, and is so obviously fake that it detracts from an otherwise visually good-looking video.

The video is hott…video of the year…don’t think so. Now people shouldn’t get worked up when the video is being compared to other Melina videos. We see similarties in the creativity of the video, this is because it was directed by the same person. It’s like a painter. The images are different, but there’s something that they do that enables you to identify that it is that painters artwork. The work video does it for me more then this video, maybe because of the more observant activity. Now don’t go biting of my head because I prefer Ciara’s video, because I did say (read up) that this video is hott. The work video is more entertaing. My opinion.

@fuq, yes she did. Melina Matsoukas did both Gaga’s ‘Just Dannce’ and ‘Beautiful, Dirty, Rich’. (: She’s a great director, my favourite actually, and you can just tell when she did a video. She has a certain thing, like how it’s shot, the fashion, the ‘feel’ of it, like one person pointed out.

I love this video! FIERCE!
