Kelis Fires Back at PETA

Kelis

The fur is flying after Kelis received a personalized letter from the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). Instead of keeping the matter private, Kelis has decided to respond publicly. In her rebuttal, she goes after the animal rights organization and its founder. Read the juicy contents below.

Good morning all!

Ok, so you’re gonna love this. The other day I got a personalized letter from PETA! Lol so after some thought I’ve decided to write one back. Goes a little something like this:

There is no humane way to kill anything, let me start there. It’s unfortunate but it’s part of life. With that being said, I would eat pterodactyl if you found some and you told me it was meaty and delicious. And after doing a very minimal amount of research……. I found out that the founder Ingrid Newkirk is completely batty. I had a feeling but she far exceeded my expectations. I mean certifiably insane! Lol this chicks will is nuts, google it – it’s a riot! Beyond the fact that I think she’s a diabetic, which means she needs insulin, which is taken from lab pigs (I know this because my sister happens to be in veterinary school), which would be completely hypocritical. It’s like don’t abuse animals unless it can help me.

I feel very strongly about a lot of things such as the sweatshops that spin cotton and the blood on their hands. Btw it’s not just the look of fur. It’s warm as hell and feels glorious, ever rubbed faux fur on your body? Nothing luxurious about that. Then the letter proceeded to name artist and designers who don’t wear real fur. Great! More for me! I don’t judge them, don’t judge me.

If I started wearing endangered animals like polar bear or orangutan then talk to me. (Which btw for the record I would not – I do believe in the preservation of endangered species) But the minks and chinchilla that quite honestly are rodents and if weren’t in the form of a coat I would demand they be put to death anyway are not an issue to me.

The death of high fashion. Ugh.

I eat meat, and in fact my mouth salivates as I type the word meat! And the paint throwing that’s just ridiculous! What if I was hurling Loubitons and Pierre Hardy’s at every sad poorly dressed person on the street? As right as I may be it’s just fanatical and crazy. And people have the right to feel as they please. What about art? Survival of the fittest. Natural selection? No let’s just let all the rodents run free and over take our cities. Oh wait they have, NY and LA in particular are infested! Why don’t u save them all from scavenging on the streets and ruining my evening strolls, take them home. Make them pets! Get off my back! Pun intended!

Underpaid minorities picking your vegetables, now that’s fine for you right? Please, fight for their rights. How about the poverty in the communities of brown people around the world. She had the nerve to say (and I quote) “get over it” talking of the issue of black people and slavery in this country verses cows being slaughtered. Is she kidding me? Lol yes she must be. Actually, she’s lucky most black people have real issues to worry about in the U.S and don’t give a crap what her delusional privileged opinions are. But she should try saying that again just for kicks n giggles on the corner of Adam Clayton Powell Blvd in Harlem n see how well people “get over it” lol.

If u want to preach do it about something worthwhile don’t waste my time trying to save the dang chipmunk.

Find a worthwhile cause like the women being maimed in these Middle Eastern countries. Or female circumcision. Or women’s rights here in America, we still get paid less for doing the same jobs as men. Quite honestly if you hate the world so much go live in the forest where no one else has to hear you complain about the perfectly good food chain the good Lord created. Everyone has the right to an opinion, and that’s mine on that! xoxo

LOL If I see her on the street I’m going to hurl an effing wanted ad and career books to her undeserved, overpaid over glamorized gold digging ass for raping Nas of his money. Really, maybe if your ass invested your money smartly instead of paying extra for chinchilla off of what is probably someone else’s dime, not your own, you wouldn’t have to be asking for over 60K a month to support the “lifestyle” you’ve come accustomed to. Kelis gets a bitch please. Why the hell your baby need Louis Vuitton diaper bags or a high fashion stroller? As long as we’re keeping it real… you average a hit song every 4 to 5 years, and as your divorce proceedings claimed you cannot maintain your own ish without having to take someone to the bank so you can SIT THE EFF DOWN & STFU. Don’t see her ass doing anything for these causes either.

I swear, I used to like her but every time she opens her mouth she loses more and more for me. Arrogance is not cute. Especially when you haven’t the status to back it up.

lmao! Can you say ignorance? I’m a vegan and I don’t wear fur. Humans barely die, So PETA is doing the right thing because innocent animals do not deserve such pain. How would you feel if someone killed you at a slaughterhouse just because of a hamburger? Hello, Kelis you’re a one-hit-wonder, nobody cares about you neither.

sorry kelis that you dont want to give up your fur but guess what your fur comes from animals that die incredibly cruel deaths. the fur is basically ripped off their body. so you talk about a real cause, the fight to stop the cruel deaths of millions of animal for fashion is a real cause.

also you say take up a real cause. you complain about peta not caring for other causes. well i dont see you going after the american cancer society for not trying to stop diabetes… its not like all charities have to do the same thing…

@ryan, “so you talk about a real cause, the fight to stop the cruel deaths of millions of animal for fashion is a real cause.”

Two of the major arguments made by the open letter are that a) there’s no such thing as a cruel death. All deaths are cruel. There’s no nice way to kill an animal. (personally i disagree but that’s the point she’s making) so categorizing it as ‘millions of cruel deaths’ is intentionally and unnecessarily inflammatory the other major point (that I agree with) is that b) if killing 3 million rats and 5 million minks a year somehow brought all the impoverished 3rd world nations to middle class then I’d be out there laying rat traps every weekend.

Personally I don’t think you need to treat animals in a way that is unnecessarily cruel and violent, just because I’m against the sunless movementless factory farms doesn’t mean I’m against killing animals that’s just life.

    [Reply]

    ryan Reply:

@UserQQQQ, kelis says that there’s no such thing as a cruel death and that all deaths are cruel. however even though she knows it’s cruel she does nothing to stop it. saying that death is cruel and it’s just the way it is is a weak and pathetic argument. killing animals doesn’t have to be just a way of life. we can change that. saying theres nothing we can do about it is just an easy way out. do you really think that when my ancestors were slaves, they said that its just a way of life? no. they created a movement by trying to convince others and showing that there was cruelty in slavery. slavery was a way of life but they changed that.

and the killing of 3 million rats and 5 million minks a year will not bring impoverished nations out of poverty. thats just illogical. if 100 people had to die to end world hunger, would you do it? imagine if that was your family. dont hurt ones cause to help anothers.

and if you want to help poor and hungry nations, become vegetarian. the huge majority of oats, grains, beans, and corn in this country goes to feeding livestock, pigs, and cattle. so if we instead gave all this food to people and not animals, we would in fact be helping fight world hunger at a greater rate.

In my opinion, both PETA and Kelis suck.

PETA is not a very good animal rights organization in the sense that they are going about their complains in a very ridiculous way. I agree that paint-throwing isn’t a great way to get people to stop buying fur coats, but in reality fur coats shouldn’t be made in the first place (at least not for fashion).

    Now for Kelis:
She uses the argument of “survival of the fittest”. Last time I checked, her so-called “high fashion” isn’t needed for survival. She says that the founder of PETA should go live in a forest–now THAT is where a fur coat may be needed for survival. She also says that, because the founder is diabetic and needs insulin, she is being hypocritical b/c the insulin comes from pigs. Another flawed argument: diabetes is a life-threatening condition. It is a very different situation than purely wanting a fur coat for fashionable purposes.

Kelis goes on to say that minks and chinchillas are just like rodents and that rodents have overtaken our cities–implying that the animals that are turned into coats are the same ones that overtake our cities. The rodents that overtake our cities our RATS. Not minks and chinchillas. Anyone go up to Kelis and tell her that they can make her a coat out of rats’ fur–just see what she says. (She gon’ scream “hell naw! i don’t want that shit!)

For her to say that there are other causes that are more worthwhile is VERY MUCH arrogant. Equally as arrogant as PETA saying no other cause is as important as theirs. Furthermore, Kelis says that fur is “warm as hell and feels glorious” and that faux fur is not luxurious. You try and tell me that that is not an arrogant thing to say. Her argument is also extremely ignorant, filled with false assumptions and extreme allegations.

I’m happy that Kelis has an opinion even if it doesn’t agree with my own…I can care less about that. My problem is with how she tried to argue for her opinion. She made a terrible case for herself. Girl needs to do more research!

Lastly–she called it a “perfectly good food chain.” I can talk about this for another long-ass post! Ain’t nothin “perfectly good” about a food chain that is directly linked to obesity, poverty, and economic turmoil in America and all over the world!

Kelis is def right about sharing her opinion, as everyone should. She just needs to execute her argument better! As I said, both PETA and Kelis suck!
