Ciara & Chris Brown Join BET Telethon

Ciara and Chris Brown

The outpouring of celebrities lending their support for Haiti continues. Ciara, Chris Brown, Mary J. Blige, and Pharrell are just some of the artists scheduled to participate in BET’s telethon next month.

Queen Latifah and Sean “Diddy” Combs will co-host “S.O.S. Saving OurSelves: Help for Haiti,” a three-hour televised concert from the American Airlines Arena in Miami on February 5, the Friday before the city hosts Super Bowl XLIV. The fundraising event will include appearances and performances by Ludacris, Justin Bieber, Robin Thicke, and many more.

“The devastation that has occurred in Haiti has broken my heart. My hope is that we can raise enough money to sustain a few of the relief organizations for quite some time as there is a lot of work to be done over there,” stated Pharrell in a press release. “The goal is not only to bring immediate relief to Haiti but to also rebuild the country and help the country move forward.”

The program will air on BET and Centric, as well as MTV and VH1, on Friday, February 5, at 8 p.m. ET. The proceeds will benefit Haiti relief organizations including Wyclef Jean’s Yele Haiti, CARE, and Project Medishare.

I can’t bring myself to believe CB is going to perform live again on tv until I see it for myself. I just have a feeling some type of hater aid will stealthly try to keep him from performing.

Come Feb. 5, I will be watching. If he performs I think he should sing “Save Me”, an unreleased song produced by David Banner (find on youtube), or “Crawl”.

Well, supposedly he’s not “confirmed” yet for the show….so that may mean he’s NOT going to do it. Queen Latifah said on Kimmel that he was, so we know if he’s canceled that it wasn’t a “misunderstanding” like BET tried to convince everyone after they pulled the plug on him for the BET awards. Back then for the MJ tribute, they tried to play it off like they never asked Chris to perform and he was just trying to show up. Here, it seems like the organizers are definitely trying to get him on if it’s trickled down enough for Queen Latifah to mention it on TV. Who knows.

@Hubba Hubba, he mentioned on a Say Now message last week that something was in the works for him to do something with a charity. I just don’t want to get too excited until I know for sure. I was really pi**ed at the MJ Tribute issue because it was about showing love to MJ and his artistic influence on other artists. BET could have had CB dance behind a silhouette screen if they did not want to offend certain people(as far as I’m concerned).

BET needs to stop. If you’re doing a telethon you need A listers. The only A lister that was named is Queen Latifah.

    @bryxxx, yeah, and Mary!

    mmmhhhmmm.. Reply:

@Giselle, This isn’t meant to be like the other one this one is targeted at the upper and lower middle class community, young adults, and everyday ordinary people to help support those that have similar background like them and give from their hearts. A telethon doesn’t need A-listers it needs people with their hearts in the right place to raise awareness and entertain people in return for raising money. There have been hit telethons with no big name celebs that have raised millions!

    Pucci Reply:

@Giselle, um, does it really matter? this is something for haiti, so i highly doubt that bet was worried about who was a-listers & who were not… WOW, its obvious that even during a tragedy ppl wanna picky… its just sad.

What really matters is the cause. Even if they reach a couple of people, it still would save lives. Looks like a Viacom event.

I feel sorry for the haters, even for a worthy cause, yall are hating. This is for the people of Haiti who needs help in everyway. BET is trying to save face because they no alot of people watched the BET Awards thinking Chris Brown was going to perform a tribute to MJ, hell that was the only reason I sat through that show and watched. It is for a worthy cause and I hope it is true. It shouldn’t matter who is there, Haiti needs all the help they can get. @sugar rush I am going to pray for you, and the rest of the haters that will probably try and hate on Chris and Ciara, yall live bitter lives, specially if yall are trying to shoot down Chris, Ciara, and whoever else to try and lend a hand to help others.

Glad to see Chris is doing his part to help out the people of Haiti. In other blogs folks were saying why is’nt Chris doing something and now he is and just as I thought people have to be negative about that. Chris just keep following your heart. Sometimes people are just funny and very fickle. Remember some are sicker then others!

Its not about who’s performing..its why they are performing. Who cares if Chris will be on here..it’s for Haiti who needs help. Get over yourselves. I find it ridiculous that some of yall are worried about the performers instead of the cause. And by the way Chris Brown is dope so complain all you want he’ll do just fine. Cant wait to see what he’ll do!!!

This is a good thing, the people of Haiti needs all the help they can get, so many people with out food, water, and homes, not to mention thousands need medical attention and alot are still missing. Props to BET, Chris, Ciara, and whoever else is lending a hand to help. And to you haters of Chris, Ciara, and whoever else, what the hell are you doing to help out, not a damn thing, but you want to sit up and hate on ones that are. You all are some sad individuals. @Kristine, you calling Chris and Ciara has beens just because they are helping out the people of Haiti, who are you? I’m sure the people of Haiti don’t care who they are, they care about people lending a hand to help out. People like you and the rest of the haters are just pathetic, you have issues, and you live sad lives. And before you hate, my church has been taking up donations, and plan to raise more money to try and help the people of Haiti.
