Rap-Up.com || Sneak Peek: ‘We Are the World 25 for Haiti’

Mary J. Blige, Pink, Justin Bieber, and Akon lay down their vocals for the 2010 remake of “We Are the World” benefitting Haiti. The full song and video, which also features appearances by Janet Jackson, Lil Wayne, and Kanye West, premieres tonight during NBC’s coverage of the opening ceremony of the Vancouver Winter Olympics, and will be available to download on iTunes.

The producer and co-writer of the 1985 philanthropic anthem, Quincy Jones and Lionel Richie, speak to Larry King about remaking the charity single 25 years later. Watch the interview below.

Regarding the negative comments above, you are a bunch of morons. It was a was a great song to be passsed on to another generation, it was upgraded to todays type of music. Did you listen to the words??? When there is an awesome classic,I agree you should not touch it, but, in this case, Lionel and Quincy did an outstanding job in the amount of time they had to put it together,FOR FREE,to give to the country of Haiti. Regarding the missing artists that were not in it that you all like, maybe they were not available or did not want to be apart of it, so maybe you all should just shut the hell up or ask them personally why they did not participate. Haiti did not plan to have this terrible act of nature to happen to them. There was no time to for them to spend months making this video to please everyone. I repeat, this was an awesome incredible performance and was put together well in a short amount of time. Everyone who showed up to help in this video to help others should be praised. You all shoud be a shamed of yourselves for making any negative comments. The video was not made to please you idiots it was made to help Haiti. Did you do anything to help? If not, then shut the hell up….

Ditto Baby Doll, exactly well said…guys this is an updated version, 25 years later…Yes the original was/is a classic but this a version for a quarter of a century older generation…I am priviliged to know that i have been around for both versions. And as for the absence of beyonce??? unfortunately she’s in the middle of a hectic tour right now. As for whitney and some others that were mentioned….they were all on the ORIGINAL version…guys they couldn’t have every single person there…they got who was available and more. Akon would have been a prick NOT to be there. Well done all of them. I love it. It was even more special to see lil wayne there. I love it.

Shoot!The people above who disliked the song are a bunch of retards. They don,t understand music. It doesn’t matter how the people sing or how talented they are it matters what the song means.If you don’t understand that then you don’t understand music. They had a man who was from Hati who did not sound so good but in my mind who cares. He sang a song that had a lot of value. People who don’t understand that need to stop listening to music. I mean really your using hell and shit a nd all these other curse words to describe the song, dudes and dudeattes really come on be for real.The song was awsome and heart touching all the people who disagreed have no sense on what music really is. Music comes from the soul. It sometime expresses feelings. So if you learned something from a kid, then you understand that it sometime doesn,’ matter how much talent you have or how you sing or how you look it just matters what your singing. We have people who love singing but don’t sond good. So don’t judge.
