Twenty-five years after the original in 1985, artists from all genres of music come together for “We Are the World 25 for Haiti.” Producer Quincy Jones and co-writer Lionel Richie assemble an all-star choir including the late Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Celine Dion, Lil Wayne, Barbra Streisand, Usher, Mary J. Blige, Fergie, Jennifer Hudson, Kanye West, Toni Braxton, and countless others for a 2010 remake of the philanthropic anthem.
Watch history in the making below and download the song and video on iTunes. All proceeds go toward Haiti relief efforts.
they had good ppl like janet, usher, jennifer hudson.etc.. i like it but rappers why. they could of more singers like chris, ciara, rihanna instead of these they said new generation. not old
Why is everyone so angry about this? I don’t understand. You can never top the original but it’s still a great song for a great cause, regardless of who’s in it.
HORRIBLE….they need to lose all rap parts(t-pain need his ass whipped)…..and get rid of justin beber,nichole,miley…..what happen to WHITNEY, BEYONCE, ALICIA KEYS, MARIAH CAREY,…the real talent of the this generation like the the original had…this seemed rushed n they gathered a bunch of nobodies who can’t sing…..they should have took their time and waited for the really singers to be availble…THEY TARNISHED THE ORGINAL GREATNESS….shame on whoever idea this was…
Because they’re idiots! I mean, I wish my favorite female Artist was in it but she’s not(oh well). I do agree about Lil Wayne & T-Pain though, they could have given those parts to actual singers!
Some real strange choices in artists. Is this the best this generation could offer? Celine did well (although I still think Lauper’s voice projected more power and passion). This version didn’t build like the original so it’s the same words but without the heart and soul the original had.
I’m a little upset that Beyoncé or Jay-Z isn’t on this…but Janet Jackson makes up for that sorrow…
For the people that dislikes this song for other unfulfilled requests need to get over it and just don’t listen but if you haven’t donated anything to Haiti you should feel ashamed and disgraced because of that if anything…
I WAITED ALL THIS TIME TO SEE THIS REMAKE! janet was so ineffective might as well stayed off the song, could have done without wyclef singing…jesus! jamie foxx as ray charles…why?…WHERE IS STEVIE WONDER!?I thought the rappers would ruin the song but LL COOL J part actually pepped it up LIL WAYNE AND THE AUTO TUNERS…GIVE ME A BREAK!!!! YOU HAD SO MUCH TALENT IN THAT ROOM..WHY NOT GIVE ALL OF THE SERIOUSLY TALENTED ROLES IN THIS SONG! I APPRECIATE THE REASON FOR THIS SONG,I JUST DONT AGREE WITH HOW IT WAS ARRANGED!
Swiss Beatz is just standin there like he’s lost lol… There’s too many haters in this blog, who criticize every single thing they see, for god sake that’s a charity song… For y’all who say that rappers don’t have their places here, rap is now one of the biggest musical movement, so that’s normal that there’s some representatives here. They want everyone to see someone he likes so he/she wanna have the song.
I just fully watched the 2010 “We Are The World” and Janet literally had 0:05 seconds in the song, if that much…it’s still for a good cause. I supported.
Just terrible….i love pink’s voice you can feel her pain on it.Why is justin beiber starting the song off (he’s a one hit wonder). Where’s BRANDY??? Tpain doesn’t need to be on here. Quincy, you can do much better than this ish
I can’t believe Justin Bieber started the song, someone with a real voice should’ve done that. I don’t like very much those rappers and this should’ve included more legends like Whitney, Mariah, Aretha and the original singers too. But anyway, it’s for a good cause and it’s really good. All my prayers go to the Haitian people.
Hey u guys, maybe u wanna download “Everybody hurts: helping Haiti”, It’s quite good too! :)
idk why justin bieber, lil wayne, and t pain were added on it. What was the point of Janet in it and why weren’t beyonce and jay z on it? I can see why lady gaga didn’t want to be apart of it. They should of just left it alone. That was a classic song and now it’s f*cked up. and AUTOTUNE! are you serious? who uses AUTOTUNE on a charity song?!? If you can’t sing you should simply be left off the song.
The whole idea of remaking this song for Haiti was great but unfortunately, they failed. Don’t get me wrong, i understand that this is a charity single and we shouldn’t be criticizing it but they took an amazing song and they turned it into a joke. For instance, why would they have Justin Bieber who is not even that known open the song?! It doesn’t make any sense. Why were artists like Justin, Miley and all those rappers in the song but real artists of this generation like Beyonce, Britney, Christina and Mariah not? The part with Michael and Janet was special but everything else like T-Pain and Lil Wayne seriously made me cringe. It’s such a shame, they could have made this song so much better. I’ll still buy it to support Haiti though.
SAVE THE HATE FOR SOMETHING ELSE , man you guys have nothing better to do then hate on SHIT YOU CAN’t DO , this was for a great cause and a lot of great artist got together to make a good thing, and all you guys can do is HATE HATE HATE, anyone who gave a negative comment really should be ashamed man you guys some lames man nothing better to do but HATE ON SOMETHING FOR CHARITY. un fucking REAL. GREAT SONG , GREAT CHOICES in ARTIST, GREAT REMAKE, I ENJOYED IT ALL, GREAT JOB!!!! WE ARE THE WORLD.
Randy Jackson, Nicole Scherzinger, A. R. Rahman, Pink, Celine Dion, Bieber, Usher, Wyclef, Kanye, Will.I.Am, Quincy jones, Kanye, Miley C, L.L.Cool J, Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Hudson, T-Pain, Akon, Vince Vaugh, Snoop Dogg, Jeff Bridges and Lionel Richie.
**We are The World, We are the Children** lets help build Haiti back like M.J(RIP) did for Africa.
*PEACE*
Let’s just be grateful that all talented artist gave their effort and time for such a great cause! My love goes to all the PEOPLE OF HAITI!!!!!! This was not about who. can sing or rap. Its about collecting money for haiti!!! So please DOWN LOAD THIS SONG TO HELP A GREAT CAUSE.
This gave me chills and brought tears to my eyes; I thought the diversity of artists was great, and we should be looking at what the PURPOSE of this song is and WHY these artists chose to come together and do this song. This song was not made to display your ‘favorite’ singers, a lot of you really need to get a grip. God bless the people of Haiti & God bless the participants in this song, it was a very touching collaboration.
i’m sorry to have to agree, but this song is a mess. im speaking more towards the end. its all fine and dandy until lil wayne and the rappers start showing up. like t-pain. wth? celine was on point, and the rest of the artists did there thing, but the end? couldnt hey just leave them out?!?!
some of it was good some was STUPID the end and wyclef screaming the rapp was idk and auto it seemed all over the places its k i support it cause its for haiti and a good cause but the orginal i better
I have to agree with nearly all of you. This song turned out to be a mess. The best part of it all was when Janet Jackson had her turn. Getting Lil Wayne and T-Pain to join was the worst thing they could have done. It’s a great cause but it could have been better. Like come on having Justin Beiber in it? Hes voice hasn’t even cracked yet. This was wack as, it can never replace the original.
Don’t be hatin’ on Justin Bieber.
Clearly he’s here to stay & not a one hit wonder.
He did really great.
The song turned out good besides all the auto-tune mess.
i think that the song is very good. they do the best they can. this is not horrible! the rap part was their idea to change, to joy
NO CRITIQUEN TODO LO QUE LA GENTE HACE!
not to criticize all they did, given all that
had, is a very pretty song. you are never conform to
what they provide, you always want more, stop teasing and
BE HAPPY
I don’t see what everyone’s problem is…I think this combination was a great idea. Whether they are classics…souls…country..pop..hiphop..rap…or any other genres there are…it just goes to show how much we all were touched by this reat devastation and it has shown the love we have for each other and the unity as a people. We are the world…we are the children…i’m sure Michael would’ve enjoyed this video…not because of who’s in it but because of what it actually stands for…
This song isn’t no where near as bad as most people are making it out to be. I’m not sure if people have noticed music in general….but there seems to be more entertainers than singers now days. In the 80’s…people still actually sang. Ever since the 90’s you have 1 or 2 SINGERS for every 8 or 9 ENTERTAINERS using voice enhancers, making stuff for the club, worrying more about the dollars, throwing stuff together, & rushing what otherwise could be great music. It’s just the way music has gone. Not an excuse…just truth.
With that said, it’s still a good effort and I like seeing musicians and entertainers from all genres of music come together for something meaningful & humanitarian such as this. We all need to be greatful for what we have while we have it…because as all of us have seen lately, it can be gone in the blink of an eye.
You got to be kidding me!, what a joke, how come you guys mess up such a wonderful song. I don’t care if it is for a good cause, Why didn’t you get some real singers, goodness it was free you are lucky you had about what, 6 good singers. And I’m not going to tell you who were the good ones, poor Mike may he rest in peace, but with all that bad singing it may just wake him up. DAM, HOW DARE YOU GUYS MESS UP THIS GREAT SONG!!!!!!!
@Part. Your not understanding the big picture. They got people that would reach out to the biggest possible audience. When the objective of the cause is to raise money for those in need over in Haiti, the point is not to record a top 10 billboard hit, it is to get the most people possible to listen and hopefully contribute to those in need in Haiti.
ok going back to the first few comments, saying “they should have just done a remake with the originals”! i do not agree with that at all!!! i mean they first did the original song for Africa, that was a huge issue to the world, and they did that song for that issue. Now the new world issue is Haiti! and its in this era of music. And in this generation of music is lil Wayne and Snoop dogg along with Justin Bieber and Pink i mean its the generation we live in to day and Haiti happened in our generation so why wouldn’t you get this music era of singers to sing???? I mean at least understand the point of it before you give dumb comments like toughs!!! It was all done to raise money for the terrible incident that happened to Haiti!! So all and all GREAT SONG!!!!!
Look, people need to stop bashing on T-Pain for using auto-tune. That is what he is known for, that’s how he got famous, it’s not like he lies about it. He has made millions and people know him for him auto-tune, therefore he is an accomplished artist who deserves to be on this song.
IM GLAD THAT BEYONCE & JAY Z WAS NOT IN IT BECAUSE THEY WOULD HAVE TRIED TO GET PAID; MATTHEW KNOWLES WOULD HAVE FOUND A WAY FOR THOSE TWO TO GET PAID; BEYONCE WILL NOT BE DOING A TRIBUTE TO MICHAEL JACKSON IF THE FANS HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT; MICHAEL JACKSON DID NOT LIKE HER AFTER SHE PUT HIS FAMILY NAME IN HER BIG STANKIN BREATH MOUTH. JANET IS IN IT BECAUSE THEY ASKED HER TO BE IN IT; AND SHE IS RIGHT BESIDE HER BROTHER WHICH MAKES IT EVEN BETTER; NOW LADY GAGA WAS BUSY SHE WAS ASKED TO DO IT; SOME CELEB’S TURNED DOWN THE OFFER, BUT BEYONCE & JAY Z WAS NOT ASKED BECAUSE THEY WOULD HAVE MAKE IT ALL ABOUT THEM AND THAT IS NOT WHAT MICHAEL JACKSON STAND FOR. SO IM GLAD THEY WERE NOT THERE.
i think they needed lady gaga, alicia keys, christina agulera, taylor swift, rihanna, ciara, mariah carey, carrie underwood, beyonce…. maybe even leona lewis, shakira, keri hilson, j-Lo … idkk theres alot more better well known artist and they could hav jus added some not even take the other ones away.
OMG!! I disagree with everyone, because i kind of like the rapping part at the end. It kind of puts a unique edge to this version of the song! Sure it is different then the version that Michael and Lionel wrote, but it’s good! But as far as star wise go, I agree with NEWYORK!!, because thats the way that MIchael and Lionel had it were they called up all of the hottest artest of the year, so where are all of the artiests of the year??? But I disagree with OMGOGOMG!! becuase MIchael was a HUGE fan of Beyonce! He thought that she was super talented! But as far as Lady Gaga , she copies Michael so much and it bothers me! I mean did you see her “Bad Romance” video it totally copies Michael’s “Scream” video!
Where is beyonce, alicia keys, shakira, madonna, whitney houston.this are divas and real talent not miley, jb, tpain. This sucks big time and their voices are off key compared to the original.i love celine dion, pink and jenifer hudson.
I think this was nice too see all these different artist come together to help HAITI…AND i feel like if they was not in it they did not want to be so everyone need to stop worrying about where so and so is because teh song is already made.
The idea is for everyone to unit. So your favorite singer is not in it ????so what that doesnt make the others bad singers or the song a mess. ABout the rappers… hey that’s the way they express that’s theyre music.. so if you dont like rap SUCK IT UP its part of the musical culture. And about WYCLEAF BLACKNLATIN he’s hatin and he coproduced and sang a part in hatian creaolle… at least the hatians get to hear and bond in the song… i think it was good, VERY GOOD u dont needBeyonce and Lady Gaga in every little thing! STOP HATING AND START GIVING
Its very beutiful song..I really loved it from the first time I listened…I most like michael jackson(rip) because it is like he is there with all amazing singers..I also like justin bieber and miley cyrus who are very young but they accepted to sing this incredible song for a good cause..The rap part sure made it different from the previus one(U.S.A for Africa-michael jackson) and it’s really good idea..To sum up all these fantastic singers made good job its worth to say them fron the bottom of our hearts CONGRATULATIONS…….!!!!!!!!!!

Rappers Why Why Why???????? The Ending is Stupid With T-Pain,Lil-Wayne Omg!!!!!!!!BUT Overrall this is good they did this for Hati

Like I predicted earlier, this was a hot ass mess! Only good thing was adding Michael and Janet, everything else was a big ass FAIL!
February 12th, 2010 at 6:10 pm
should’ve just done a remake of original. this is too different.
February 12th, 2010 at 6:14 pm
most performances were really nice.
some WTF choices.
weezy/t pain/akon/kanye were way unnecessary.
overall, it’s alright.
February 12th, 2010 at 6:17 pm
@Giselle & @k – I agree with both of you’ll
February 12th, 2010 at 6:17 pm
