Video: Kanye West – ‘Coldest Winter’

Coldest Winter

Kanye West does not appear in his latest video for “Coldest Winter” and his absence is haunting. The dark song from 808s & Heartbreak gets an equally chilling video directed by NABIL. A woman, in what appears to be her wedding dress, is chased by Grim Reaper-looking figures.

Once you get past the double Ds, the video is open to many interpretations. What does it mean to you?

the only reason this is relevant is that it shows Kanye is on the path to his next album, which I can’t wait for

i think the woman in the video is suppose to represent both his mother and his former fiancee. the death of the character represents the former relationships that he once had with his mom and fiancee. in the song, it seems like hes questioning whether or not he’ll able to have the same amount of love he once had for both individuals. kanye’s videos are all about stimulating the mind and making you think. hes on whole new level with it.

No other hip hop artist ever has done what Kanye has done. Combinig abstract stimulating art into music, videos, fashion and etc. This guy is pure genius. This guy is well on his way becoming a legend in the music industry for sure. A true legend is someone you can look back on the work 10-15 years from now and still love appreciate everything they did the exact same way you will appreciate it now. I say the king of Hip Hop!!!!
