Rap-Up.com || Usher Creates Spectacle in ‘OMG’ Video

Usher went in front of the lens earlier this month to shoot a video for “OMG,” the first international single from his sixth studio album Raymond v. Raymond. Rap-Up.com spoke with the clip’s director, Anthony Mandler, who says Ursh’s new video will have you saying, well, “Oh my gosh!”

“I am right in the middle of finishing Usher,” shares Mandler, who’s directed videos for Rihanna (“Russian Roulette”), Jay-Z (“Run This Town”), and Eminem (“Beautiful”). The “OMG” clip, which was shot in Los Angeles, features will.i.am, who also produced the track.

While he wanted to keep the concept a surprise, Mandler did say this: “Let’s just say that the video is a spectacle. It really emphasizes what we love about Usher and the character and the icon that he is, and most importantly, it’s really a video that showcases his superstardom.”

The R&B heartthrob also filmed a video for “Lil Freak” featuring Nicki Minaj with director TAJ. His album Raymond v. Raymond drops March 30.

anthony mandler makes all his videos dark/mysterious tho, the song is very fun and upbeat, i hope the video reflects the song and not mandler’s videos of the past…love the song tho

i hate the song. it sucks. everything Will.i.am makes should only be in his BEP shit. from “What’s Your Name” to this “OMG”, Usher’s music is not BEP’s music, you got this confused man. if you’re gonna do some songs for him you gotta stay true to r&b and pop

this single might do well somehow but it’s definitely something i dun wanna hear from my favorite Usher

The reason why there is no buzz b/c Usher’s want to create suspense for Lil Freak and OMG. These songs are off the hook and I am confident that they will do terrific for Usher. Haven’t u all noticed that Hey daddy is growing on people? Somehow the downloads for that song are increasing. I am so happy for him b/c he will eventually have more than just one hit from last era (here I stand) and a massive hit on Urban Ac (hot Ac, etc).

The album has club songs, mid-tempos, and ballads as well. These records are exactly what you said — they are intended to hit clubs and to be heavy dance tracks. The last album had plenty of ballads and “sweet songs for women” but people were not trying to hear that. Make up your mind!
