Melanie Fiona was thrilled when Alicia Keys invited her on the road. The rising star is a fan of the “Try Sleeping with a Broken Heart” singer, and as it turns out, Keys is also a fan of hers.

Alicia told Rap-Up.com why she chose Melanie and Robin Thicke as the supporting acts on her “Freedom” tour. “It’s actually an extremely musical show and I love the progression of it,” she said. “I think people get a plate full of food that they can really enjoy.”

The 12-time Grammy winner sang the praises of the Grammy-nominated songstress, whose debut album The Bridge was released last year. “I really like her very much,” she shared. “She’s a great person. She has a beautiful voice and I think she has a really bright future ahead of her.”

So she was more than happy to help further the “It Kills Me” singer’s burgeoning career by offering her a coveted slot on her arena tour. “I’m glad to be able to have someone who’s just at the cusp of a great career and be able to give them that type of exposure and experience.”

Catch Alicia Keys on tour with Melanie Fiona and Robin Thicke when they play Houston’s Toyota Center tonight and the L.A. Staples Center on Tuesday, culminating in Oakland, Calif., on April 10.
