Jennifer Hudson Album Due in September

In between juggling motherhood and a thriving film career, Jennifer Hudson is still finding time to record her sophomore album.

“I am in the recording process, at least 10 songs in,” the 28-year-old singer-actress tells the AP. “It’s between film and music right now, working on the album, but it won’t be out until September.”

The follow-up to her 2008 self-titled debut will be a departure for the Oscar and Grammy winner. “I think it will definitely be a different direction and I’m so excited about that. I want this album to feel good. Just hearing the feedback from the music being heard. … The reaction to it, I love it. So I’m like, wow, I want this album to be good, but I definitely want it to be very much me, and I just hope the fans embrace it.”

Aside from music, the “American Idol” alum is also preparing to take on the role of South African activist Winnie Madikizela-Mandela in a biopic, which begins shooting next month in Africa.

    Honey, you are sooooooooooo foul and crazy. Go to Beyonce site if you want to speak on her. How ruled,dumb, and low class of you. Beyonce can not sing like my girl Jhud any way. Jen is the best female vocalist in the business today hands down. See, you can like and love whom ever its your choice, but do it elas where. This is not your girl Beyonce site, are maybe you just can not read. I can not wait for the new album to come out. I know my girl Jen is going to shine like the super star she are. All you haters get ready!!!

    I still am mad Pocketbook w/Ludacris wasn’t released as a single. It would have eaten up urban & rhythmic radio.

    hope she has more uptempos like spotlight and pocketbook on the new album, cause the last one had a little too many ballads.
    dont get me wrong, her voice is predestined for ballads….but it gets boring over a whole cd
    and i so loved pocketbook!

    would be cool if she do a dance song on it, electro songs with great vocals are hot! not the entire cd, just one song.
    there has been a remix of “and i am telling you” and that was hot!

    hope there are more different kind of songs on the next album, but i’ll buy it anyway…
