Alicia Keys, the Black Eyed Peas, Elton John, Joss Stone, and more chipped in to help raise money and awareness for HIV/AIDS on Wednesday’s “Idol Gives Back” telethon. Among the highlights was Mary J. Blige rocking out to Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven” with an all-star band including Travis Barker, Randy Jackson, and Orianthi.

Alicia, who performed “Un-thinkable” and “Empire State of Mind (Part II),” spoke to staging-rapup.kinsta.cloud about the impact “Idol” has had on her charity. “‘Idol’ has definitely supported Keep a Child Alive in a major way,” she said. “We launched the campaign for Text Alive [last year] and that was major for us because with such a platform we were able to raise almost $500,000 just from one call to action of the viewers of that show.”
