Rap-Up TV: Rico Love Sounds Off on Kelly Rowland’s New Music

Hitmaker extraordinaire Rico Love has penned hits for everyone from Beyoncé (“Sweet Dreams”) to Usher (“Hey Daddy”), and now he’s applying his Midas touch to Kelly Rowland, whose new single “Commander” is expected to debut next week. “She’s like the queen of the night on this record,” he told Rap-Up TV of the David Guetta-produced dance track.

Rico wrote seven or eight songs for the Destiny’s Child alum’s third solo album, which boasts a dance vibe, powerhouse vocals, and lots of confidence.

    Kelly Rowland is about to shut shit down. I already heard “Commander” and its a monster smash. She is about to be the new Queen of the dance clubs. And no it doesn’t sound like “When Love Takes Over.” I personally think it sounds better. Its more on the line of “Sexy Bitch” but with Kelly’s amazing voice. The chorus is an infectious killer. Once you hear it you probably won’t forget it.

    I’M SOOO EXCITED!!!Sorry I posted without watching the video but after watching it I’m even more amped up…I seriously want to hear it ASAP. If it’s anything as good as When love takes over she’s gonna blow up even bigger (at least in Europe if not the world). BRING IT ON!!!!

    I’m not into that Club music, so the rest of you can keep that. I did hear it and it’s OK, I guess.

    What I don’t like is people blaming her being behind Beyonce for her lack of success, NO she had her shot and her music was being heard but not many people liked it. She was always loved by people, if only because she was the BROWNSKIN one in the group and a lot of brown skinned people connected with her because of that.

    I heard commander and I’m more than excited about this record….can’t wait for it to leak…the chorus just stuck in my mind on a constant loop…I’m sure the studio version is gonna be 1000 times greater than it already is.
