M.I.A. uploads the artistic cover for “XXXO,” the first single from her third as-yet-untitled album, due June 29. The catchy electro-pop song goes to iTunes on May 11, while Hype Williams has been selected to direct the video.

    ^ this is how all her artwork has looked for the past 2 albums. it always has a do it yourself feel. you must not be familiar with her work to make that comment.

    I’ve seen her covers. I mean, the cover to Kala wasn’t that bad but it’s redundant now and cheap looking. Why even bother? Why doesn’t she just have a blank cover with the letters xoxo

    it’s meant to look tacky and over the top and d.i.y! it’s m.i.a. guys. she does what ever the fuck she wants. if she wanted a sophisticated piece of artwork she would have done that. she’s the artist. it’s ironic. i love it.
