5 Things You Should Know About Drake’s Album ‘Thank Me Later’![]() With one month to go before Drake’s highly-anticipated debut Thank Me Later drops, more details on the project are beginning to surface. Lil Wayne’s protégé recently revealed that the album will open with his Alicia Keys collaboration “Fireworks.” Entertainment Weekly had a chance to preview the disc. Here are five things to build your excitement for June 15.
1. Timbaland produced a track called “Thank Me Now.” 2. Indie pop band Francis and the Lights, who opened for Drake on tour, is featured on one song. “I wanted to take what I love about [their] music and bring it into my world,” says Drake. 3. “Karaoke” deals with the pitfalls of achieving fame at an early age. He recalls how he felt at 15 when his girlfriend told him she couldn’t love a star. “It killed me,” he explains. “I can’t wait till she hears it. She’ll know it’s her.” 4. Jay-Z schools his younger peer on “Light Up,” which he first told Rap-Up.com about in December. “He lets me know how young and naive I really sound,” Drake says. “It’s an incredible moment. He’s like, ‘This is how it really is. Because I’ve lived it.’” 5. Drake made this album for music lovers, not for the Billboard charts. “I didn’t make this album for commercial purposes. A lot of the verses are extremely long. I just made it to share with people. I hope they can enjoy.” TweetYou can leave a response, or trackback from your own site. 56 CommentsLeave a Reply

I think Find Your Love is the hottest song off the album so far. Shut it Down is next and over is last. That is how good it is. When a song like Over, which was so amazing, is possibly one of the worst on the album the album is gonna be unstoppable. Im just really dissapointed with the Miss Me (feat. Lil’ Wayne) song which has leaked. It was originally called All Night Long and i hoped it wasnt gonna be on the album but i think it is. Please comment back if youve heard it. I just dont really like the beat and the lyrics are meaningless.

Are you all serious? What, did Drizzy Drake hire some interns to create all this hype?!?! Sounds like he’s already concocted an excuse if record sales are poor. All music should be for the people, but the record biz is all about the Benji’s. If he really didn’t want the album to be “commercial” Then why all the collabo’s? I wish artists today were more confident about their talent. They seem to rely on all these collaborations to increase sales volume. Collaborations should be used minimally, but today it seems to be the standard. Real talent can attract fans and sales even if they stand on their own. Seems to me like this biz needs to be re-cultivated by going back to the basics.

I like Drake’s music. “Over” was an awesome song, and I don’t really care what you haters think about it. I also like “Find Your Love”, really like the direction he took with that one. Plus, Drakes collabo with Alicia Keys was really good as well. I like how Drake is trying to take his music in a different direction than other rappers. I’m not trying to say he’s the best rapper alive, because he isn’t. I’m just trying to say that I like Drake’s style of music.

Drake makes good music and already has a international fan base. He makes music for everyone to vibe to. Some of y’all dudes on here mad haters if you where in his shoes you would want the support. J Cole a good rapper I bump him but he ain’t gone appeal to everyone. So buy Drake and enjoy and if you not listening to j Cole yet do so cause he hungry.

@MOOK hahaha, u wrote “200k first week? LOL you’re crazy if you think Drake will do anything less than 500k first week. Don’t be surprised if he sell A Milli”
That boy sold 447.000 his first week. That’s UNDER 500K ! And people thought he would do a milli.. Wayne thought Drake would do two millies. Haha, a bit under 4 and half hundred thousand copies..
[Reply]
June 24th, 2010 at 7:43 pm
props @sam for aiming under a milli
[Reply]
June 24th, 2010 at 7:48 pm
and a last thing.. not dissing Drake, or his numbers.. 447K is really impressive. A milli became a trend after Carter III. But everything over 100K’s first week is good ! peace /though I know some will try to go internet war against me LOL .
