Rap-Up.com || Lil’ Kim Mocks Nicki Minaj at Concert, Continues to Demand Respect

The battle of the Barbies is getting heated. Lil’ Kim indirectly called out Nicki Minaj at a show in New York City earlier this week. “We love her, we just want her to pay homage so we can all rock together,” she told her fans. “It’s all about respect. You respect me, I respect you. You don’t respect me, then fuck you.”

The Queen Bee continued to demand respect from her fellow femcee at another concert in Baltimore on Saturday (June 5). “I’m such a fucking trendsetter,” she said after putting on a bright pink wig. “They better motherfucking respect me.” She then performed “Crush on You” while imitating Nicki’s Barbie-like movements.

Nicki has mostly kept silent on the feud, addressing it briefly on Twitter. “Raise ya hand if u don’t have 2 diss ppl to feel better about urself. Jealousy is a disease. It kills @ a fast pace. Kisses 2 my bad bitches,” she wrote.

Both women have support from their famous friends. Drake defended his Young Money labelmate onstage, while Ray J had Kim’s back in NYC.

Yes kim is a legend and has broken down boundaries in a male dominated genre no one could ever take that away from her. But she is no longer selling like she used to. Nicki on the other hand may not be a legend yet but she has the makings to be. She is a extremely creative and talented rapper, with looks as well as a personality that seperates her from the flock and makes her markitable. She IS the future of the female rap game. It is unlikely that kim will ever sell like she did in the 90′s early 2000′s so she shshould instead of dissing up and coming females esp. Those who sshe help create (inspired), she should up lift nicki and teach her so she doesn’t fall victim to the same mistakes kim has. And nicki needs to pay homage. Nicki lyrically flows better than most male rappers which a lot of past females couldn’t, which I guess is her way of taking the female rap game to another level but still you can’t know where your going without knowing where you came from. Both ladies need to sit down work it out and do the damn thing for the females and for hip-hop.

Why is everyone so heated… Nicki never did anything to start a beef really. She has publicly in interviews said that Lil’ Kim is an influence. When artists compare themselves musically and list “obvious” inspirations all the time it’s a bad business move. We compare so much now that the industry has definitely suffered. They don’t need to help the comparison game. To truly be considered an icon someday or a huge force in your lane you have to do what you do and put your blinders on. You have to stay focused on YOUR path. Kim ain’t the first one to wear a wig, lol. Nicki realizes who paved the way and we all know it too. She has even said it. So this beef to me is pretty irrelevant and pretty much one sided. This is a rap game tactic and a way to get press and shine. It’s not very positive but it’s promotion. Remember people that HATE is still promotion so when you come on any blog and you talk to your friends about how much you hate somebody in comparison to somebody else you are still repping them. Look how many of you rushed to this blog. I almost didn’t but thought this was ridiculous. Stop wasting your time. Kim should stop wasting hers and Ray J and Drake should also. I love Kim. I’m a HipHop fan in general. I was reared in the culture. I have pride about the cultural’s and its economic influence. As HipHOP was(and is) an artistic outlet that improved and enhanced many lives.

Lil Kim as an artist, and as a founding members of the culture is due acknowledgement and respect. It is about maintaing integrity. Also celebrating “the culture” As a black women I am proud of the success of HipHop and its cultural influences to America as well as abroad.

In regard to Nicki’s behavior and attitude, she truly needs to humble herself. If Nicki is being compared to Lil Kim, she should acknowledge that Lil Kim was clearly an inspiration. To Nicki it’s ok, to acknowledge Kim and say she was an inspiration. Its quite apparent that their was some “Swag Jacking” To Nicki is OK, cause Lil Kim “was that bitch”. More so, and importantly Lil Kim in Hip-hop terms “Is a Monster! Period. Yes Respect is due.

Does Nicki have some appeal? Of course she does! She’s a cute girl, who definitely has talent. Very well said guys buy y’all missing the point…! When you talk about quality rap music, Nicki won’t even fit top 20 female rappers. The girl is simply lame, and i think she is TRYING TOO HARD!!!!!!! During Lil’ Kim’s time, she didnt have to try any harder. She’s got the looks, swag, voice, lyrics. I have listened to Nicki severally and i just can’t relate with all the crap she talks about.
