Genuis? original? Fresh??? Jay-Z fell off?
Drake is overrated and overhated my dudes but seriously Drake isn’t that original and people give him too much credit. Drake is heavily influenced by Kanye but nobody seems to notice—People are like he’s so original and he’s going to change the game. He’s not going to change the game and he’s OVERHYPED. He’s blew up because of he got signed to Young Money and people need to admit that. I think Drake is cool and I like his music but people need to stop with these bullshit comments and that includes the comment from the haters.

Thank Me Later was actually SOLID…it’s just that a lot of people were expecting it to bring world peace, cure AIDS and cancer, and stop global warming with all the hype it’s been getting…so naturally they’re disappointed.

And for all who bash him for being Canadian, or marketable, or non-gangsta (especially the last)…I doubt you would dare say that to Common, The Roots, or Talib Kweli…

No cause Common, The Roots and Talib are “real” hip-hop. We are the most fickle fan group. It shows up in our culture time and time again with unattainable or unsustainable expectations. 50 got rich because you liked what he did now you don’t feel him cause he’s too rich. Then he’s not allowed to experiment with new stuff cause then he’s selling out.

Drake “used to be real”, “grew up rich”, “was on Degrassi” etc etc. Just cause his dad and uncle were in famous bands doesn’t mean they had money. Artists were paid way less back then and usually didn’t own any of their catalog. As far as Degrassi, he had an interest and drive to actually get on tv. These same people probably watch LL, Ice Cube, Queen Latifah and Will Smith and have no issues. At this point in their careers they probably know them more for film work than music.

There is a lot of unnecessary hate. You don’t have to like him. But dislike him for the music. Not what you think his persona is or should be….. at least until he does something to make him undeserving of general respect.

Yeah his album is lacking something. Ciara would’ve definitely moved the album up to CLASSIC status. Oh well..his loss.

LOL why did they even ask that white guy??? Hes acting like Drake worships the devil or something! Like dude what’s your problem with Drake? As for the chubby girl…Jay-Z fell off? And I really didnt appreciate her comment about the south. If everybody down here saw what she said she would get her ass beat. Yeah the album is great, i just think it was way too highly anticipated and there was too much hype around him which is why people are hating. I think give it some time and people will settle down, people who like him will continue to like him and support him. People who hate him wont hate him anymore(im not saying they are gonna love him, but they just wont hate him anymore). Cause honestly, drake is a good rapper and people are just trying to find reasons to hate him right now.

Don’t get me wrong, Drake has a nice album on his hands here, but I think this being his first release that he does not contain the “thurst” that most artists 1st cd does. With a title “Thank Me Later” does the right respect for his first cd, but throughout the album, he wants thanks now and to be remembered as the best? I mean dudes got songs like “unforgettable”, “Miss Me”, and “Thank me Now” where he writes about being remembered as the best, really? This is your first release and the best ever (if you think Jay-Z [10+ albums], Eminem [6+ Albums], Tupac {like 1 million albums], Kayne [4+ albums]) but the best ever can not just release 1 album and call himself the best. His songs are good, but not a classic album by any means, kid cudi put out a better cd last year, as 1 full piece of work. Drake should be in the game for a while, and I want him to make tons more music, but hold off on the best ever talks, thanks.

The chick with the red hair was spot on with her answers. Drake does live up to the hype. People are just expecting wayyyyy too much like they want him to break dance while rapping and singing on some crazy shit smh. Drakes music is very inspirational and the production behind his music is incredible. He has his own lane for sure but people just dont want to accept it. I dont know any other rapper that sounds like him, he sounds like himself. People are saying hes overrated now just because hes made it big. Mind you he had probobly the biggest mixtape ever. Then he comes with a very solid debut album Thank Me Later and some people are still not satisfied. Well in that case go listen to another artist while Drake makes his millions. Its a win/win situation for dude either way.

ok that lady at the end with the red hair was kind of annoying me because she seemed like she knew what she was talking about but she kept saying drake and lil wayne are the only great lyricists out there but ***** what about Eminem He’s better than Lil wayne and Drake…..Kanye West is better than Lil wayne and drake so WTF.

Did people forget that Drake co wrote Unthinkable for Alicia Keys which in my opinion is one of the best songs in the past decade. Drake makes good music. Its a fact. Also So Far Gone is what created Drakes buzz cause it was one of the best mixtapes ever made. Best I ever Had made it to #1 on billboard without any label promotion at all. That right there tells u that dude is the real deal. When u dont need a label to push your song to #1 your a force to be reckoned with. What artist do u know that has done that? If anyone has the answer to that then come holla at me.

  22. #Thatisall

Whoever said Ciara would have brought this album to classic status go kill yourself. How can u put someone who flopped off there last LP into this whole debate like r u serious. Drake got Alicia Keys why the fuk would he want Ciara on his album. Whens the last time Ciara was even featured on an album or song? I’ll wait………………….

    [Reply]

  23. Desquared

I don’t agree that ciara is needed but WTF does a flop lp have to do with anything. Ciara got 2 multiplats and a Grammy and wma in her repetoire. Drake doesn’t have an lp. And so what he wrote unthinkable. Dream wrote single ladies. Your point is?

Fact is dreak n minaj for that matter are overhyped and to date have yet to show anything for it. Hot 100 #1 does not either have.

Ciara was on the how low remix. Alicia keys gets lo with married men. What do either have to do with wack ass Drake?

The only reason Drake is popular as he is now, is because of that “degrassi” show. If he had never been on there, he would have never been signed by wayne.

I think Drake is different… I do think he is oringinal & its okay to be inspired by someone who came before you. Kanye, Wayne, Jay-Z were all inspired by the earlier rap artist & other artist as well but they brought somethign different to the table. I think Drake will do that, but he has A LOT of work to do… I will definitley be buying his album. No matter what anybody says especially that white that dude, Drake is creative & instead of bashing someone for actually being different & for actually being creative, how about we suppor them people?

    [Reply]

  29. over rated !

different??? lol he sounds like lil wayne they all spit the same. WACK CD NOT CREATIVE JA RULE DID IT IN THE 2000′S GIRLS LOVE HIM, NO DOUBT THEY WILL BUY HIS ALBUM ITS A R&B ALBUM ONE DOPE BEAT WITH JAY Z DOESNT MAKE IT A HIP HOP ALBUM

DRAKE’S ALBUM IS OK. I THINK HE COULD HAVE CAME HARDER. I DON’T REALLY GET THE HIP HOP VIBE FROM IT. IT SEEMS LIKE ANOTHER SO FAR GONE ALBUM & I THINK SO FAR GONE IS BETTER THAN THANK ME LATER. I WON’T BUY THE ALBUM BCUZ I DON’T THINK ITS SOMETHING I WILL CONTINUOUSLY LISTEN TO. LAURYN HILL DROPPED HER ALBUM IN 98′ & I STILL LISTEN TO IT.
DRAKE IS UNORIGINAL & BASIC, BUT HE HAS THE ABILITY 2 MAKE HIT MUSIC. HE IS A LITTLE KANYE WEST WITH JAY’Z’S HAND MOVEMENTS.

TO THE CHICK THAT SAID JAY-Z FELL ALL THE WAY OFF. SHE IS A FOOL. I HAVE ALL HIS ALBUMS & I CAN SAY HE HAS CHANGED, BUT THAT IS EXPECTED HE HAS BEEN IN THE GAME FOR ALMOST 20YRS. PPL THINK HE CAME OUT IN 96′ BUT HE REALLY CAME IN LIKE 92′. YOU CAN NOT EXPECT HIM 2 TALK ABOUT THE THINGS HE WAS DOING BACK IN THE DAY WHEN HE CLEARLY ISN’T DOING THOSE THINGS THAT WOULD BE FAKE. JAY-Z IS STILL THE MAN, STILL SELLING RECORDS. WHEN HE CAN’T SELL RECORDS IS WHEN HE HAS FALLEN OFF. YA DIGG.
