Kelis has never been one to hold her tongue, but this time she’s really going off in the video for “4th of July (Fireworks).” The R&B mama lights up the sky, dances in the desert, and splashes in the sea, never failing to look glamorous while doing so. The clip, co-directed by Kelis, Rankin, and Nicole Ehrlich, is for the second single from her new album Flesh Tone, arriving July 6 in the U.S.
The video was ok, didn’t like necessarily shock me or something. It was kinda irrelevant,t he fashion overtook what the video should’ve really been focusing on.
I would’ve liked more water scenes. I enjoyed all the looks, except that pink blouse with cutouts she wore while she was singing into the microphone, and swinging the rope of lights. She looked like a drunk chick at a 4th Of July picnic that ripped the lights off of the side of the pool and started dancing. It just didn’t fit in with all fashion surrounding it. But overall, amazing video. Loved every bit of it, especially the fireworks shooting out of her hands!
Man thank God for artists like Kelis, Janelle Monae, Solange, Melanie Fiona and Kelly Rowland for keeping R&B alive and not being afraid to do their own thing. At least I know I appreciate it.
roflolmfaooooo hahahahahahahahahahha @ItsOscarYO. buhh the video was tough. i like it. i woulda loved it more if only kelis wulda done r&b and not that dance crap. but i still like it cause i love her voice

GORGEOUS VISUALS! I don’t really feel this song needed a video with a plot, I actually think it would have been distracting. The song with the video just set a really nice tone.

Good stuff. She always keeps things interesting. The scene in the water and the one with the fire are my favorites.

The production’s good, but her voice sounds like crusty sandpaper. I wouldn’t pay to see her live.
