Jazmine Sullivan comes back with a vengeance on “Holding You Down (Goin’ in Circles),” the first offering from her sophomore album. Missy Elliott is behind the boards again, providing an old-school sample for the Grammy-nominated songstress. This is a song both hip-hop and R&B heads can appreciate.
This song is FIRE!!!! It has such an old school vibe to it and its definately something fresh for the radio. Her first album was a classic and so slept on so i can only expect her sophomore album to be another amazing piece of work.
it sounds okay…beat is good, vocals are sounds a little forced…its a chilled beat, so her vocals should match it..not over power it.And also it sounds a little over the place tho. hopefully it’ll grow on me..(jazmine songs are usually excellent)

I kind of agree. I like it but it won’t work. People will just complain about it being dated and plus people don’t really appreciate vocalist spin the throwback sound. They barely appreciate lyricist soon hip hop. Just ask amerie (why r u) and most of her last album an ask
Monica with her first single or buzz single (let me know) which in the long run didn’t make the album. I like it but not sure if this generation of crossover electro pop junkies will support.
I kind of agree. Amerie and monica tried the throw back hiphop feel and the both failed. Luckily for monica she bounced back and didn’t include “let me know” on the album also leavin off any other hiphop soul tracks. Amerie on the other hand failed with single”why r u” and it didn’t help that her whole album had that throwback feel. I like this a lot but our generation of electro pop junkies won’t allow anything that sounds as they would say “dated”. I will support it but don’t see others following.
Man those vocals are crazy.. Can’t wait till
she performs it live… I think this song goes harder than amerie and monicas songs.. Both were kind of boring and jaZ
is singing with pure rawness that both amerie and Monica seem to be missing.. I hope this song gets her out there!
