Rap-Up.com || New Music: Dondria – ‘Fancy’ (Freestyle)

Dondria leads the pack by becoming one of the first R&B singers to freestyle over Drake’s “Fancy.” The So So Def signee will premiere the video for her second single “Shawty Wus Up” on July 18, while Drake is shooting a video for the Swizz Beatz-produced song tomorrow with director Anthony Mandler.

I realize that when a artist is new, people look to “compare” them to someone, but this young lady isn’t “trying” to sound like someone…it seems that to she trying to be herself! It’s got to be something to be on YouTube just doing this for fun to being signed & now facing “firing squad”…but in the end, for her to build her audience on her own and have the supporters she has, somehow I think she will be just fine. Vocals are raw,authentic and I like it!

Alot of people say Dondria sounds like Beyonce,Kelly, Le Toya and Solange. I believe its the Texas accent and the fact that she studied Destinys Child’s harmonies and vocal stylings.

May have a good voice but she will not be a star.
she will just be an average rnb chickshe don’t have the it factor. ppl need to understand the whole medium is visual you got to have more than a voice.she’s a singer but she’s not a star. If i’m signing some to a record deal I will sign a star over a singer any day. if she got both then the better. You can find 10 singers on a block but you will be lucky if you find 1 star.

damn, y’all she’s newly signed!, u don’t even kno’ what she can accomplish in a few years, give her time 2 breathe, I think, in time she’ll get that “star” quality, and all stars are singers on the music side, that is,, it take raw talent 2 be a singer, hence, that makes u a star, just give her a few years. She has what it takes, she can sing live, hell, if rihanna can have the success, then dondria could be just fine. we need 2 appreciate artists more for their talent, not just how they look, or what kinda fashion statement they’re doin’. I honestly feel that dondria can make it, go head dondria!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
