« Single Covers: Ciara – ‘Speechless’ + ‘Gimmie Dat’Sneak Peek: Usher – ‘DJ Got Us Fallin’ in Love’ »Lauryn Hill Returns to the Charts![]() Lauryn Hill’s absence has been felt. The elusive singer reappears on the Billboard charts for the first time as a lead artist in over a decade with a previously unreleased song.
The Grammy winner’s leaked track “Repercussions” enters the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart this week at No. 94. The last time she was on the charts as a lead artist was in November 1999 with “Turn Your Lights Down Low” featuring Bob Marley. In 2006, Method Man’s Hill-assisted song “Say” peaked at No. 66 after 10 weeks. The former Fugees member hasn’t released a studio album since her solo debut The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill in 1998, but maybe this is the encouragement she needs to stage a comeback. Ms. Hill has been traveling the world playing shows, recently performing at Rwanda’s FESPAD Festival. She will headline the Rock the Bells Festival stateside beginning in Los Angeles this weekend. I don’t think the song is good enough to reach the top of the charts.

@Arthus. That’s not the point. The point is that she can enter the charts w/o even putting the song out. The song is not even supposed to be a single. So, maybe it’ll get her to release more material because people clearly care about her in the music industry. It’s a hunger for artist like her again.

there we go again stupid a$$ music listeners judging a song in the vein of A&R’s. None of you are A&R’s just consumers so listen to the damn song and keep it moving.
Im so fed up with “I like this song but it will not chart and is not crossover enough”…WTF…you just said U liked it so SUPPORT IT!

It’s about time. We need some more real and raw talent on the radio. I was just listening to her a few minutes. :)

@Xclusive I love your comment sooo much because its so true…the sooner people get out of this state of mind, is when artists will begin to make “real music” again.

Put Lauryn Hill up against any rapper today and she would blow them out of the water….The lady can spit!! The Fugees is living proof of that. She flows..strong words and a truly refreshing voice.
