Wiz Khalifa Respectfully Declines Drake’s Tour Offer![]() When an artist of Drake’s caliber expresses interest in having a fellow rap peer join an upcoming tour, most would leap at the opportunity. Not Wiz Khalifa though. The Atlantic Records signee politely declined the Toronto MC’s offer to have him jump aboard his “Lights Dreams and Nightmares” tour with the Clipse.
During Drake’s Ustream broadcast last week, the rapper shared his desire to have Khalifa perform alongside him during his new tour. The 22-year-old Pittsburgh native was honored but felt the idea was premature. “Just the fact of cuz even extending his hand and me being on his radar is tight, to me,” Wiz told XXLMag.com. “It just lets me know that I’m doin’ what I need to be doin’ as far as stayin’ relevant and stayin’ poppin’. But I think to keep me poppin’ and keep me relevant I gotta stay buildin’ on top of what I’m doin’ and what I been doin’. No disrespect to cuz or anybody else who might wanna see me do some more collaborative things, but to keep buildin’ and keep my brand as strong as what it is, I gotta keep focusin’ on what it is.” Wiz will embark on his own solo tour, titled “Waken Baken,” which hits more than 55 cities across the U.S. beginning in September. The Kush and Orange Juice mixtape creator hopes to successful complete that endeavor before collaborating with the likes of Drake. But he’s not totally nixing the idea. “This is my first tour that I got comin’ up, the Waken Baken tour, I gotta at least kick that off and make that it what it is so we can do ten more,” he said. “I’m real happy for Drake and real proud of Drake. I was lookin’ on the Internet and [he] made $10 million this year. So maybe when I make $10 Million then we can tour.” TweetYou can leave a response, or trackback from your own site. 19 CommentsLeave a Reply

What an idiot. This flop could have been rapping with one of the biggest rappers out right now and he DECLINED?

Ya’ll are retarded if you think Wiz Khalifa is dumb for declining. It’s EXTREMELY respectable for him to want to build his own brand. While most would argue that Wiz could have gained more fans, they would only be fans because of the Drake situation. These days you need a SOLID fanbase that will stick with you no matter what. And that’s what Wiz is doing.
Besides, he’s been indie ever since he left Warner Bros. WAY back. He doesn’t need a big machine to back him to be dope. The buzz Wiz has right now is ALL him and Rostrum. No major. #clapforem.

just wait til 2012 …..wiz is gone be that dude, just a couple more mixtapes, look @ Drake & Nicki, in November of 08 Drake was building his buzz up with mixtape & then still building his buzz up in 09, now look 2yrs later, he’s huge. Look at Nicki, she’s been building her brand for a lil over 2yrs now & look at how huge her buzz is now, pretty soon the features r gonna start comin in 4 wiz & then buzz will keep building & building, him, Big Sean, Drake & J Cole r the gonna be big this decade

From my understanding i think is all behind the fact that wiz fuks with currency whom we all kn dnt fuks with young money anymore for some reason leading to his departure from the camp, and wiz dnt prolly wanna look funny in between by accepting drake’s offer bcos that wil automatically create some kinda relationship with him and young money and him and Currency already have their ongoing project i.e the taylor Gang/Jets project. It’s totally creating a whole nother rap age, which i think Drake’s sorta sense and wants to be part of. Anyways lets see whats gona happen in the near future bcos is a huge sensation too.
But hey yal better watchout…Taylor Gang or die baby!ah see you Wiz!

Man, I’ve been listening to Wiz since early 2006 and I’m glad FINALLY everybody is picking up on this dude. If you guys have missed out on his earlier mixtapes, go download that shit and listen to it ASAP. My favorite mixtape, Flight School. Holla

I definitely respect Wiz hustle. He’s trying to create more buzz on his own rather than with the help of Drake and the currency issue is a factor as well. Wiz, Curren$y, Big Sean, and J. Cole definitely going to bring it in the next few years.
