Rap-Up.com || New Music: Keri Hilson – ‘Pretty Girl Rock’

After debuting her new single “Pretty Girl Rock” live at last week’s Beats by Dr. Dre event in New York City, Keri Hilson is feelin’ herself on the freshly released studio version of the track. Produced by Ne-Yo and Chuck Harmony, the song is an exploration of self-love, with the blonde Keri-lyn Hilson telling the naysayers to quit the hatin’ just because she’s a pretty chick.

“My name is Keri, I’m so very fly/ Oh my, it’s a little bit scary/ Boys wanna marry, looking at my derrière/ You could stare, but if you touch it, I’mma bury,” she sings on the track from her sophomore album No Boys Allowed.

Miss Keri described the song during a recent Ustream session. “It’s not meant to be a vain record. I want everybody to feel like they can do the ‘Pretty Girl Rock,’” she explained. “It’s like the hair brush in the mirror, don’t hate me ’cause I’m beautiful, ’cause you are. Everybody is beautiful. I want everyone to be able to sing that record.”

This song is catchy, not the best thing ever, but fun and I’ll remain a Keri fan, I have nothing against Ciara, but I must say that recently I’ve noticed how annoying Ciara fan can be. They have to be the most unrealistic immature culty bunch of folks I’ve have the displeasure of reading comments from. Everything she does it Platinum and Gold at the same time to these fool. Shes been doing some interesting stuff lately, but people please, lets me reasonable, shes no where close to the best thing in the world, not saying Keri is either, but at the very least she can write music. About the only thing Ciara is great at is dancing.

ehhhhh I love Keri and all but this song is super cheesy to me. The subject matter would better suit a younger artist like KeKe Palmer or Tiffany Evans. I actually prefer “Breaking Point” over this song and it’s a shame that they are already pretending like that song didn’t even happen. I like everything on her debut album more than this. Regardless I will still be buying the new album.

I really like Kheri Hilson BUT this song misses the mark for certain fans. I think she was trying to expand her audience with this but seem to have loss some with this one. At least for this song.
