Rap-Up.com || Video: will.i.am x Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj and will.i.am go international in the Rich Lee-directed video for their joint single “Check It Out.” Taking the stage on a Korean talk show, the Young Money raptress holds it down next to the Black Eyed Peas frontman as letters pop up around them. After rocking for a small audience for a minute, will.i.am flips for Nicki—literally—as he raps on the ceiling and gets animated.

“We’re doing almost like an ode to Japanese culture and Japanese anime,” Nicki told MTV News. “I’m obviously a big fan and I’ve joined forces with like the only boy that I know that’s also able to capture that culture.”

Eeeew! I like Will.i.am is so horrible, get this talentless fool off of my screen. The song in general is boring, the video is just lame, and Will.i.am’s lyrics make me want to punch something.

Sh*t keeps on repeating and repeating, and I understand this happens in pop all the time but can it at least be something good? I was close to falling asleep to this song.

I’m honestly not diggin’ this video. It was just a little too plain for me. I just hate how they didn’t make Nicki’s second verse more of a standout part of the video, because that was the hottest part of the song.

The song is really good and to some people it will have to grow on them… and in some cases it has no hope for some people. The video is not really epic in none of it’s form. Everybody in the buisness knows that is takes “Sex Appeal” & “Perfect Lyrics” & “Beat” & “New Dance Moves”. Those are all the elements you need to make a good video. Overall the video gets a 6.5 out of 10. I love you “Nicki Minaj” but, it could’ve been better. I hope “Pink Friday” makes up for it. “Team BarBee~Dox”!

So why is it in Korean? They won’t do that ‘Japanese culture’ or ‘Japanese anime’ anymore? I’m a little dissapointing because the video isn’t responding Japanese culture at all.

Lets face it. This VIDEO sucks! Her label is not trying to hear big budget right now! If she has all these Nans aka Barbz! (1.5 mil followers on Twitter & She made a million offa mixtape) Then it shouldnt matter what she puts out videowise (low budget). After her Massive (Attack) video bombed! Her label couldnt afford to take anymore chances with miss minaj specially after getting sued for ruinin a lamborghini (bitch, u aint never been in a lamborghini). Just like they aint take no more chances with hip hop singles ever since.

I think the video is ok, I just wish they did a little more with it and went over the top for such a fun/feel good song. Nicki has plenty of career left to bless us with epic videos. who gives a dam korean japanes? really is it that serious? The video could have had more going on though. Like someone said a fun feel good video with whirlwinds and spaceships, crazy colorful wardobes but actually I thought the video would be more inspired by the cover art for the song.
