Nicki Minaj and Rihanna “Fly” above life’s trials and tribulations on their latest collaboration from Nicki Minaj’s debut album Pink Friday, landing November 22. This is their second pairing following “Raining Men” from Rihanna’s Loud.

“I came to win, to fly, to conquer, to thrive/ I came to win, to survive, to prosper, to rise,” sings RiRi over the soaring J.R. Rotem production.

“‘Fly’ is one of my absolute faves. I wanted to work with Rihanna for a long time. I’m very proud of her accomplishments, especially since she was born on an island like me,” said Nicki. “This song is a female empowerment song. But then again, it’s not specific to just women. It speaks about flying, soaring high in the face of every single solitary adversity that comes your way.”

I feel you. It’s very pop, but I am still a Nicki Minaj fan regardless and I am going to support her and her music. “Here I Am,” in my opinion, might be one of the best songs on the album. I wish it was longer, but it’s epic and her vocals are absolutely amazing. What do you think?

@sashaj I heard snippets of the deluxe edition. She has more club songs on that version. It’s worth pointing out that with Wayne and Drake, their features and mixtapes go harder than their albums too. I think she purposely toned down the craziness and added the singing to really introduce her own style as opposed to just spitting a quick 16 bars over someone else’s song.

Now did I NOT say a few days ago that this album would be no where NEAR classic ??!! Yall lil fans go STR8 for the hype and then get this bullshit of an album (that she took almost a year to work) in return. Since we’re talking about Kim, and the only albums of hers I’ve heard are Hardcore and The Naked Truth- HC is only about sex. Not Tonight is my shit but she was the first and was dirty, not the most amazing rapper IMO.
I knew Pink Friday wasn’t going to be amazing when I heard the snippets but as of now, I am disappointed with it.

Yes Pink Friday has leaked! But she did well. Only less than a week before general release. Look at Em’s recovery and Drizzy’s Later albums. About a good 2-4 weeks before release and theirs leaked. Her first week sales will still be high

I havent heard but like 4 songs mainly features and i think they put it together pretty well for reaching wider audiences than jst hip hop. Why would she want to just reach that little audience is beyond me? Shes a FEMALE rapper and it works in her favor to diversify herself.

Some of the songs may take a little getting used to for people not into the kind of music shes delivering on the album but I think they will grow to understand and like it. I personally like what she did with the album from what I hear. Ill buy based on those. Shit it on em, that song is crazy. The best leak I heard was shit it on em. Kanye took over the blazin track but I like all of the leaks I heard, fly was the least favorite but I still like it.

Im glad a female rapper is back and hanging in there with all these men like kanye, drake, em, wayne, TI, jay z, j cole, wale, lloyd banks, ludacris, BOB, kid cudi, wiz kalifa, and all the other mainstream male rappers. Its such a male dominated industry and even the garbage male rappers get more props than they deserve. Go Nicki Minaj. Now if only Nas and lauryn hill could come back. Hip hop would be ok.

I think that the negative comments regarding her music being more “pop” than hardcore hip is unfortunate but honestly given the negative comments about not just Nikki but all FEMCEES by males on hip hop blog boards, if I were her I would tailor my music to suit the people who will buy my records. It’s true that going this route may be risky given people’s fickle nature but if real hip hop heads weren’t going to support her anyway she has the right to target the audience who will.
