I don’t understand as the young lady said, how hip hop has died. It’s like when your parents were around and said ‘you youngsters don’t know what REAL music is’. Music is an art of expression that stands the test of time, elvolves to the generations it influences. Being from a different generation doesn’t make your music better, makes it bett for that time. With that said I’m a 29 year eclectic art LOVER. I’ve always considered Hip Hop as one of the most raw forms of art. Art can not be tammed, boxed up, told how to sound.. thats not art. Here we have a young up and coming artist who, lyrically, has got talent, period. Why can’t that be exploited as a good thing? People here new, fresh, inovative music and feel threatened, hurt, and out for blood, it’s unfortunation Kim feels that she would have been the only “queen” of hip hop to ever embrace us with her pressence. There will be more, there were ‘queens’ before, and will be ‘queens’ to come. Queen Elizabeth has to give up the throne sometimes. And those of the past that have made a POSITIVE impact and do it with grace, class, and candor. Hating on someone only shows how lil you thought of yourself. Pink Friday into Friday 13th? Didn’t Minaj already use ref Nigthmare on Elm Street and guess who’s playing Jason? That sounds like a cloned version of the same line to me. Hip hop, if nothing else, is based on the abililty to lyricize.. I don’t hear that.. break the words down people.. yes Minaj is crazy.. so is Lil Wayne.. and we eat that shit up! I’m just confused because last time I checked real hip hop was forever changed/mutilated. Since the game’s changed completely, Kim is not relevant anymore. I dare the old Madonna to come at Lady Gaga. It wouldn’t happen, first of all because there’s a sense of respect between the two of them and they recognize that the times change and so do styles. While Nicki has obviously borrowed from Lil’ Kim, it shouldn’t be the source of contention. Furthermore, hip hop evolved and changed, therefore, ‘REAL’ hip hop is just real hip hop, not the basis upon which to evaluate who’s better.
Nicki’s album sales will settle this. I just want to see the record sales and show what a support group/following Nicki has. If Kim still wants to fuck with it, she’ll only be helping Nicki out.
But I HOPE that Nicki pulls out the Playtime’s Over and Sucka Free Nicki really quick. She’s about to murder Lil’ Kim. I’m so sick of this beef and I legitimately respect both, but I can’t let her disrespect Nicki like this, especially if Nicki has, SINCE as far back as I can’t remember (2007) cited Kim as an influence and a role model.

The young people will like Nicki, the older heads will like Kim. Personally as someone who was a rapper, I got more respect for Kim. The rap game today is so watered down it’s sick. Most people don’t even write their own lyrics anymore. Yet, they call themselves artists. Rap is like R&B now. Most singer don’t write their own stuff. Let’s see Nicki carry an entire album on her own. Not a guess appearance on someone else’s track, but her own album. Move units (not buy backs), and then she can talk about smashing the game out. Yeah, she has a great buzz, and has been on a lot of fire tracks. But, let’s see where she is 10 years from now. Lets face it, Biggie brought Kim out, and Biggie been dead for over 13 years.
