MTV documents Nicki Minaj’s rise to stardom for “Nicki Minaj: My Time Now.” The one-hour documentary follows the Pink Friday rapper, born Onika Maraj, as she performs at the VMAs, records the Eminem-assisted “Roman’s Revenge,” returns to her home of Trinidad, and surprises her mother with the keys to her own home. Laugh and cry with the Harajuku Barbie as she reveals the ambitious girl underneath the colorful wigs and wardrobe.
this honestly made me love her so much more.. she has come a long way from her mixtapes… never, since ‘lady gaga’ and ‘tegan and sara’ have i been so enamoured by a person.. i never was a huge fan of rap in general… but her.. its addicting.. she is rap, hip hop, pop, r&b wrappin in one amazingly talented human being… much respect..
GET READY TO CRY BECAUSE THIS IS SO EMOTIONAL AND AMAZING AT THE SAME TIME!!!!!!! THIS BETTER COME OUT ON DVD SO I CAN BUY IT!!!!!! NICKI IS AN AMAZING WOMAN AND SHE HAS ONLY JUST BEGUN HER WORLD DOMINATION LOL
incredible piece. well done MTV, nicki will continue to shine like the true star she is. beyond negativity, acting, jealousy & hate- nicki is talent by definition. i see you nicki!
I thought it would be a series or like arealtity tv show but it was a really good documentary. It showed the highs and lows of being rich and famous. People seem to get this idea that it’s easy money but it’s not.
Nicki Minaj is very misunderstood. Nicki really deserves all of her success. She came from humble beginnings and she has worked hard. Lot of blood, sweat, and tears and people give her so much hell.
I love how she wants to do so much for her family and seeing them happy is what makes her happy. It seems like she gets her humbleness from her moms side of the family.
Loved this. Very introspective. I also liked how they showed the tender moments like her spoiling her family and her missing her grandmother. Fantastic job, MTV.
I love this woman so much more after watching this doco! It was actually very moving and emotionally charged, to see that she was motivated by her family and her statement at the end about it not being about money, but about having a life for her and her family without struggle. It showed she is human, grounded, but also motivated for good reasons.
Wow this is amazing, made me cry when she poured out her heart. Not many artists are like this, taking care of their family & who value the real meaning of life.
She will go down as one of the greatest, may God bless her soul.
wonderful documentary,i hope this let the critics know her a little more, because they put her through so much crap, and i hope the people who misunderstood her,and be thinking she just pop up on the seen that she didn’t,and that she isn’t some put together Gimick that they think she is and trying to make other people think the same, she bin on the grind for so long, she deserve her success and only haters would want to tell her different, keep on staying humble Nicki and still keep your eyes on the prize and never become complacent.
i respect her she much, she’s looking after her family and making sure they get what they want, its not about the fame, its about taking care of he family. we love you nicki :).
I’ve been lovin and respecting her and I will always I’m so happy ppl got to see the Nicki teamminaj sees… Nicki is really driven and that’s what’s going to take her to the top . We love and respect all the women in the game but Nicki is going to retire win the crown life moves out of ur way when u work hard for something she he’s a winners mentality and that’s what I love about her love u Nicki
epic doc foreal she really deserve her success today…fuk whoever hatin cuz she didnt jus sit in a corner with her hands fold waiting on superman. btw on my to cop her album.
My Time Now was directed by Michael John Warren. The film was great. He also directed Drake: Better Than Good Enough and Jay-Z’s Fade To Black. Found his site – mjwfilms.com. There are lots of clips there.
I’m glad people get to see her world from her point of view. And she was soooo right about that VMA performance. Before she even went on she said, “People are going to bash me.” And they did. I hope all continues to go well for Ms. Minaj and her family. :)
i love nicki minaj (no homo)!!!! I lyke det she’s a female rapper frm NY, but she has her own style she ain tryna be lyke othea ppl… dis sho was very touchin fa me because if u luk at her u wldn think det nicki came Trinidad. but n e ways NICKI MINAJ I LOVE YOU N RESPECT U….
I’m glad it seems that I can watch it here. I don’t have a problem w/N.Minaj but the fan wars really put a bad taste in some people’s mouths and it makes them sick. I respect hustle and hard work so no hate on her. Let’s just stop the hate (and the ridiculous, pointless arguing) altogether! <3
Wow, I love this Documentary. I like Nicki Minaj, but I didnt think I would ever buy her music. But now all I have to say is Nicki minaj forever!!! I love a person that is so humbled and so down to earth. U just have to love a person like that and give them mad respect!!!! So with that said my hat go off for N.Minaj!!!

I have mad respect for her too. I really hope she stays humble. I really do think that she could become that female mogul that she was talking about. And I will support her all the way!
i luv nicki and her music but i find it hypocritical that she implying dat she wnts ppl to follow their dreams an all dat stuff, but in monster she sez just killed another career its a mild day….. she wouldnt have liked it if someone did that to her from the start (lil kim) when they really had the power to do so.
This documentary was truly amazing. I was holding back tears b/c we have a lot in common and I could relate to a lot of things that she was feeling. People are always going to have different opinions but she is human just like anyone else. She’s beautiful, talented, and successful. I will continue to follow and support her. Keep doing your thing girl! (:
